| Help with top knot hair! I need some help, suggestions....something! Bitsy will not sit still so I can put her hair in a top knot. It hangs in her eyes and gets all knotty and nasty. She doesn't seem to mind but it drives me crazy Any ideas how I can get her to sit still????

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Hi there It may take some time to get Bitsy used to having you do her topknot but it can be done I notice in your avatar pic she's cut short through the body so you probably spend less time than average on her grooming. To get her used to sitting still long enough for you to get the topknot in try brushing her during quiet times when she's relaxed. Make it a good experience & soon she'll be much better about it. The key with this & sooo many other things about our pups is consistency. I'd try just a very little of her hair at first too if she's not used to having it up. Good luck!

| That was when I had her shaved down, I'm letting her grow out now. It cost me about $12 to have her groomed. When she does let me put her hair up she winds up rolling around until it comes down! That, or her and my daughter's dog play so rough that it comes out.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | aww, sounds a lot like my two! They wrestle just about every day at least once. Bellas' hair is cut in more of a visor cut but it's long enough to put up. I don't think she ever really had enough hair for a topknot before coming here. Tuffy has worn a topknot since he was just a puppy. Both of them get brushed & combed out at least once every day & sometimes a lot more than that depending on how much "stuff" got in their hair outside. It really is all about getting them used to wearing it & after a bit the other dog will probably ignore the topknot. Try really tiny bits of a good treat to reward her each time she lets you put it up. Use just a tiny bit of hair at 1st & gradually add more to the topknot.

| I'll have to try that. I don't want to cut the ends because she has the most beautiful black tips and it looks great when put up

The hair shouldn't make the eyes pull & when you hold the topknot by whatever you secure it with you should be able to wiggle it a bit. It'll have a little poof to it if that makes sense.

| Yeah that makes sense. She seems to do better when I use a hair clip. I just want to get it out of her eyes, it drives me crazy

| I agree with Shelly, you need patience. They can test you. lol Hot Rod hated/hates getting brushed/combed so we comprimised...he no longer has a topknot but still has long hair on his ears and face. Think he totally won that battle. Maggie on the other hand has never had her topknot hair cut every. She's perfectly happy to have it hang in her face too but also likes it when it's up out of face. A lot of the times I put a jaws clip in. one of those small quick clips but she's 3 and her hair is probably much thicker than your little one. I do her everyday and give a tiny little treat after grooming so she has learned to let me get my way with grooming her. Just give your little one time and just keep at it. I used to just put a teeny bit of hair up just so they could get used the feel of it being up.
