| what should I do with his "CockDo"(bangs) Gatsby's bangs (rather affectionately referred to as his CockDo in our family because it reminds us of a rooster) are getting out of hand the middle part is so long that it gets wet from his nose and mouth while the rest of it is so short it cannot be put in a top knot. I tried putting the little clip things in but he just pawed them out (he does not mind a top knot and would leave one in all day before the old groomer chopped it off) Should I leave it alone and wait for it to just grow out? Should I even out his bangs that way when they grow they will grow even and can all be put in a top knot at the same time. or is there a third option I can't see? I really really need help hear are a few pictures to help you understand

| What a beautiful little Yorkie face. Am always astounded at this breed's "look". Oh, I was faced with the same dilemma recently trying to grow Tibbe's topknot but he is such a toot, such a dog doing all his doggy things, I decided he would be forever undoing his topknot or straggling hairs from his lifestyle. Since I like the puppy look and he still looks like a puppy though he is approaching 4 yrs., I used the mustache groomer and clipped the hair back around his eyes and cut his top hair short. He's got a poor coat and it tends to stick up and look very puppy-ish that way and it is just his look. So, maybe when I can get him a brother or sister that Yorkie will have a lovely coat and beautiful topknot with a bow! But your baby is so terrier cute - such a look in those lovely eyes!!! Am in love! |

| Gatsby has a great coat (now that I'm using a great shampoo) I dont want to cut it all the way back because Gatsby loved his top knot when we could get one in. its just that middle piece that is driving me crazy.

| same place I am at the same place. Winston's hair is straight and the top hangs in his eyes. I put a topknot but he just pulls it out. He really looks cute with it but I am tried of fighting with him over it. He is 10 months and is to get a hair cut in two weeks and I am thinking, with the advise of others on YT who have had this problem, to just cut the face short and let him have his way. I know how you feel. |

| If he's done well with a topknot in the past, grow his hair out so he can have a topknot again...but I confess I'm completely bias and LOVE long hair on yorkies & cute bows on their heads

That's what I do with my pup when its just growing & isn't quite long enough to reach the top of it's head. It looks a lil strange...like a lil fountain on the front of the head for a month or two. Just remember to take the band out daily & comb through it, to minimize knots & breakage, which defeats the whole growing out process. I have used egg whites to keep a few strays in place during the growing period too. I would just wipe it out with a warm wash cloth and reapply each day I redo the topknot.

I can defiantly try ! I never thought of just doing the top knot farther forward I spent so long learning how to do it the normal way that i never thought to change it. that may be the answer to all my problems.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I would just put it in a topknot now, and trim the hair so it's about the same length in the band. Hold the hair in the band straight up and clip accross. The forehead/nose hairs may be shorter and you can use a grooming aid such as Petsilk topknot gel, or some people suggest putting a little hairspray on a toothbrush and brushing the forehead stray hairs. I use the mini clip over the band when I'm not using a bow.

| I wanted to put Angus's topknot up but he hates having the hair on top of his head messed with. He lets me groom him everywhere but the top of his head and I am sympathetic because I had very long hair and was tender headed as a kid. Well, his hair was getting matted up there and after several days of trying to brush and comb it he gets away from me and then goes crazy rubbing on his back and rubbing the top of his head on everything. After a week or so I noticed he had about 5 or 6 perfect little dreadlocks. He has a kind of pointy nose and huge eyes like a lemur anyway, and he looked so cute. I started calling him Rod Stewart. I should have gotten some pics because my husband combed them all out and cut his bangs without asking me. I feel like when a man takes his son for his first haircut without consulting the mother. I want to let him grow his dreads back. It's the only place he matts, but hubby doesn't like it. I would even invest in the bees wax for them. It's totally nontoxic and it only takes a tiny bit. |
