| Whats the best way to trim eye hair When Harley comes home from the groomers, he has the hair around his eyes all trimmed up so I can see his face. He's in a full coat, so I'm not looking for puppy cut, I've got his hair long so that it'll go in a top knot too. But she just trims up the stragglers. Any tips? I groomed him today and tried to use scissors a few times, but was really nervous. I know when you trim around a horse's eye, you close their lid with your finger so as not to get the eyelashes, is there a similar technique for dogs etc.

| Hi There! Well, I cannot say from experience that I know how to trim hair around the eyes. Wally is still so much of a puppy that he will not hold still! I take him to the groomer every few weeks to have his hair trimmed. I know that my groomer uses special scissors, they are angeled and look similar to surgical scissors as opposed to regular scissors. She generally trims the hair between the two eyes, on his nose, and above his eyelashes... she must pull the eyelashes down while the hair above stands upward and can be trimmed. I think, for me anyways, that this would require 2 people. Good Luck! Happy Monday!

| Thanks, yeah that sounds about right, I was trying to figure out if she does it with clippers or just scissors, I'm thinking they sell scissors like that at craft stores here, so maybe I'll pick up a pair, cause my scissors are huge. But yeah it sounds like a two people job, groomers gain a lot more respect from our dogs than we do as the parents... lol

| I nip out the inside corners of Zhoie's eyes to keep them for watering so and it makes it much easier to clean out the gobbies every morning. With the hair clear up on her tiny nose, I can't see her big beautiful eyes and I like to, lol. I just use the tippy corner of my Peanut palm trimmers, works great. If you want to use just scissors, most beauty supple stores carry the like rounded blunt end scissors. I have them, but I find it works better for me just to nip the hair out with my trimmers.
