| Coloring in Pups Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. I have noticed alot of pictures of puppies around my Shadow's age, 8 months. A lot of them have some very light coloring, silvery even whitish. Is it normal for them to be so light so young? Shadow still has a lot of black with some grayish spots and golden on her legs, chest and under her chin. She has, I believe, a cottony coat. Thick and very soft. Does this have anything to do with coloring? Just curious. She seems to look different after every trim. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The hair on a yorkie puppy's head turns first and usually begins around 3 months or so. Some pups retain the dark coloring or change slowly. It can take 3 years before their coats completely change over. Right now your pup still has puppy coat...those are fluffy and soft.

| Each yorkie is different & will change differently. My Lulu is 8 months & still dark. I personally love her coloring & will love it no matter what it ends up like. She's my baby... Here's a recent picture of Lulu after her LP surgery (almost 2 weeks ago) & one of her in the snow on Christmas Day. You can see she is still very dark.

| She's a cutie, how is she doing? I can see she is even darker than Shadow. I don't mind the coloring at all, to me it makes her look like a young pup. Wouldn't care if she stayed that color. I'm just so used to breeds that are "exactly alike". Our Black Lab has hair that is a little longer than usual, but you couldn't otherwise tell her apart from any other female Black Lab. Same with our Viszla. You line up these breeds and they are all identical. I find it fascinating how different, but alike Yorkies are. You could put a bunch of 8 month old pups together and each one would be different. It's really interesting. |

It is very fascinating how different yorkies can be. It's interesting to me to see all the differences.

| Thant is one of theh great things about Yorkies. They keep you wondering, how they will turn. My Tucker is just 14 weeks, but his hair on his head is already coming in tan... Every day is exciting! Hope your baby has the perfect coat for you! Carrie & Tucker |
