| Clipper woes Currently I have an Andis clipper. However, I was wondering what clippers people use on their furbabies. Hugo V.F.O. I believe has a cotton coat. Ne and all recommendations will be greatly appreciated! Also what would be useful would be the best starter kits. I have gone to a lot of the clipper companies websites : andis, wahl, oster and I have left overwhelmed as I know that many of those attachments are not necessary especially since I like for my son to have the puppy cut! Thanks in advance! |

| I think most recommend either the Andis or Oster brand but there are many different models in many different quality levels within those brands. Andis especially has a lot of quality difference between models. Tools do make a difference and the better quality will make a world of difference! An Oster A5 Golden (single speed) gets high praise. They come with a #10 blade -- close like for private area & pads. You will have to buy other blades depending on what you want to do. (higher the number, the shorter it cuts the hair). Here is a chart that will help in making buying decisions. Clipper Blade Chart: http://www.osterpro.com/includes/Cry...BladeChart.pdf One of the best purchases I have made is the Wahl Peanut Trimmer. I liked it so much that when the cordless model came out, I bought that too. I can do most of my grooming needs with this trimmer. It is perfect for sanitary area, pads, ears, face, etc. I CAN actually trim the body hair with it too. It is made for people, I got mine at Sally's Beauty Supplies. It is advertised as the tiny peanut-sized trimmer with full size power. This is a great inexpensive way to start into grooming your own dog. It is not meant for a full cut down or anything major but you can do the main things in between major grooming trips and see if you like doing it before investing in a really good set of clippers. Might try petedge.com when you do decide to buy clippers. Very good prices on all pet products!

| I love my Oster Golden 2 speed clipper. I have 6 yorkies and groom them all, so this clipper is great. I ordered it from Petedge and I got the trimmer for free.

| I have the Andis two speed and just love it. Course the important item for getting a nice grooming is the attachments. I have several size blades I use.
