| so scared to cut him using the clippers! ok so I just need some support and a confidence booster when grooming my Yorkie. I groomed him once by myself and I was SO scared I was going to cut him using the clippers and I didn't do a proper groom. I know he could sense me freaking out because he wouldn't stay still and was shaking. I've been told that it's hard to actually cut him with the clippers, but it still makes me so nervous. Especially using them on the sanitary spots and the neck - yikes!! Any tips or advice to help me get over this? I want my pup to feel comfortable with me, not nervous! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | first off, what kind of clippers are you using and what blades are you using? You can cut a dog with the clippers if you are not holding them properly or if you get a skin flap like the tuck up or armpit area. you can also nick them on the bony areas like the hocks if your not careful. its generally not easy to nick them on the body or thigh area. Also the neck on a yorkie (unless fat or old) is pretty save two, just be careful by the ears. the sanitary area usually won't get nicked but it can get irritated (what most people refer to as clipper burn but isn't actually a burn) and red if the clippers aren't held properly against the body or if the blade is too hot.
