| Who has a cotton coated with a long or full coat? Is that even possible? Katie's fur is growing out and it mats like crazy. I guess I am so spoiled but Uni's silky hair, and to think I was complaining about Uni's hair before. Katie won't allow me to flip her on her back to comb out the mats under her arms and her being a cone head until at least sat is making things very hard. If I accidentally pull too hard (and not even hard) on a mat she will try to bite me. She bites hard too. any tips, other than using conditioning spray during combing? how do you keep your long haired cotton cuties unmatted?

| My Bogie mats really bad. I use a Madan pin brush and a maddan comb. Spray the brush with conditioner or detangler and brush starting from the bottom in very small sections. When I come to a mat I take spray detangler on the mat and take my Maddan comb, holding the hair close the the skin firmly and gently work out the mat. If there are a lot of mats it is very time consuming. I brush Bogie every day. I am using the Yorkie splash shampoo and yorkie shine conditioner. I have been using it probably 2 months now and his coat does not get as many mats now. I also ordered the Iv San Bernard Pek conditioner and some of their other products but it won't be here until Thur so I can't comment on it yet. Vee has a thread right now about it. I can't wait to try it.http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-jencar98.html

You might think about cutting or shaving the hair under her arms. That's the worst area to mat on my guys but since nobody can see it, I cut it.

| I do this too and I shave their belly too and honestly until you lay them on their backs you can not tell at all.

| Yup, shave the armpits, inner thighs and belly area. Those are the areas that mat the worst. |

| Now why didn't I think of that? Bf gets so mad when I get out the scissors. I tipped her ears and trimmed up her feet and he got mad. He wants Uni and katie in long coats, but I am the one who does the grooming! I'll try to cut the under carriage short. She has soooo much thick hair I'm sure he won't notice. Oh yeah, also since she had her surgery, the vet said no bath until after she gets out her staples (this sat) so she hasn't had a bath in about 2 weeks and that's not helping.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My 2 that are cotton coated, mat as soon as I brush them. I try to brush every day but can't always do it. I also shave their hair on their bellies, armpits and inner legs. If the may gets to bad I cut them out since they have such thick coats you can't even tell from the outside.
