| hair Yorkies generally get their full coat around 3 yrs of age. I am a breeder and groomier and I had a few like that and now their have is long and full on their body. Don't worry it will catch up. Give them vitamins daily also...they are good all the way around for them.

YT 500 Club Member | My first yorkie was the same, the hair on her head grew fine but her body hair was really slow, but it did eventually start to grow down. My Rosie also has a very slow growing coat, its only short on her body at almost 11 months and practically non-existant around her mouth, but I'm sure it will come eventually. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | It really depends on what type of coat your yorkie has. Ruby has longer hair on her head, legs and tail, but her skirt area has never quite reached the floor. Being that she is four years old, I'm sure it won't ever touch the ground. But she has a very fragile silk coat and it has a tendency to break easily. A more wire-coated dog's coat will also not grow to the ground. When breeders told me in the past yorkie hair is like human hair, I didn't realize they might mean - the hair is alike in that some people/yorkies are blessed with good hair, and some are not.
