| Don't know what to do with his coat!! Bentley has a VERY thick, I guess modified coat. It just seems impossible to get through it all sometimes and he gets mats it seems no matter what I do. I have not wanted to cut any of their coats, and Bentley looks so adorable with all that hair (everyone calls him a little bear cub ). But I am ready to scream trying to deal with it! I don't want to take away from his cuteness cause he is just so adorable. Any ideas on what I might could do to help or a cut that might would look cute on him? (Any pics would be fantastic. I am very much a visual person! LOL ) Thanks for any advice.

| What shampoo (& conditioner) are you using? My Murphy has a thick, dark, modified coat, too. I use Minksheen shampoo but he needed more conditioning so I started using Biogroom's Silk Conditioner and it's made a huge difference!! We still have to brush but now he hardly ever has a mat, and his hair looks so shiny and healthy.

I do have minksheen but don't usually use it because my hubby whines about the smell. I have Chris Christensen and was really excited to use it, but it just doesn't seem to work that great on Bentley.

| That's how Minksheen is on Murphy. It really works great on the others, but his coat is just different. Do you use the CC conditioner, too?

| I got one of the $10 sets to try it. It has the day to day shampoo, ice on ice, after bath, and some kind of thickening stuff I think.

| Bentley you are growing up so fast and you are so cute. I use biogroom silk condition too. Bogie mats really bad if I don't brush him everyday. The silk condition really helps. I have tried the CC day to day and it doesn't work too well on his coat. I read a thread about extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil so I bought some at a health food store. It works really good on Bogie too. It only takes a very small amt I rub it into his coat while he is still wet from his bath. Since using it his mats are not as bad. I can't let him wear clothes for any length of time either or its hours of dematting his coat.Good luck I think its just trial and error till you find something that works well for you.

| Sorry, I meant to come back and reply yesterday and got distracted. I really recommend trying the Silk Conditioner. You can go to Biogroom's website and find their contact info. Send them an email asking for some samples (ask for the Silk Conditioner specifically). They'll send you a few free samples of shampoos & conditioners. The little bottle should be enough to bathe him with a few times and see if it helps. If it does, you can get it at Petsmart pretty reasonably. Good luck!

| It smells really yummy, but not overpowering. It is a solid like crisco and you can even cook with it. I have been using it on myself too, and it has really helped my dry winter skin.

| I saw this other thread and thought it was interesting. MaryKay (AprilLove) has STUNNING babies, and she says she puts the coconut oil in their food. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ditioners.html

| Just be very careful putting the coconut oil in his food, that is what my vets feels may have caused Laci pancreatitis. I was only using 1/4 teaspoon a day.

| If you think about cutting it Mimimomo has a really thickly cottonly coat little man and he has the cutest cut. Laci also has the same thick cottony coat, I cut her back and sides really short just about shaved and keep her legs and face long. Her coat is soo thick she looks like a big dust mop and only looks really nice right after being brushed, 10 minutes later it looks like I never groomed her. IMG_0906.JPG IMG_0910.JPG

| I would be afraid to put it on the food too. I have only used it topically. I would be afraid to mess up their little tummies. I don't give my two anything orally but their kibble and veggie treats.
