| Calm Eyes Just wanted to recommend Calm Eyes. It's herbal and antibiotic free. I got mine early last week. I use it daily with a cotton ball to clean Lola's eyes. What a HUGE difference it's made. It not only cleans her eyes but it has greatly reduced the amount of gunky drainage. Now if I could find something to safely clean the tear stains she already had. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm glad you found something that helped, but I just want to add that if there is lots of gunk, it may be due to a food allergy. I switched foods on Joey, and the new food caused a thick brown gooey discharge. I switched back and his eyes cleared up.

| Poor thing has battled with allergies all summer. My vet put her on 1/4 Claritan twice a day. It's helped a lot. She doesn't have much gunk but does have tearing. Is there anything safe to remove the existing tear stains? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | This link Tear Staining: The Causes & Cures has some good suggestions for removing the stains, here's one, I haven't tried any, so I can't comment: Quote:

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | No, I haven't, Joey had some tear stains when we did a food switch and his eyes had massave brown gunk in the everyday. At first I didn't relate it to the food, but when I took him off it, his eyes improved 100%, but there were still stains. I read this link, but never did try anything, they stains seem to be going away on their own.
