| First ear shave My boy is four months old now. I have been carefully trimming his petite ears and feet with little, blunt end scissors while he is asleep next to me on the couch...very sneaky. I have also used this snuggle time to remove the tiny hairs inside his ears with great success... if he wakes during this procedure I try to look innocent of all wrong doing. But now I would like to shave (or shear) the top of the inside and outside of his ears and I can not figure out how to do this without waking him....he won't like it, of that I am sure. Also what type of clipper would you use to safely shave such a teeny tiny ear? Sneaky Jeanne D

| To tip the ears. You have to be very careful w/the ears. Never use clippers for the edges of the ears, it can cause severe damage. I use the tiny Wahl pocket pro clippers. It comes w/a 40 blade which is a surgical shave & cuts pretty close. I only run the flat part of the inside & outside flap of the ear (3/4th of the tip) once. For the edges, I use blunt end scissors.

| I use the Wahl peanut -- it has the power of a big clipper with the control of a small one. I can put it on my hand and all I feel is a little tingle. Still some are afraid. I trimmed one of the puppies ears last night and she wiggled like we were trying to kill her. I had my niece hold her and I trimmed. Some just act a little annoyed, but she was terrified. We did a small trim and then gave her lots of loving. Hopefully she will get better each time.

| DON'T USE A CLIPPER TO TRIM THE EDGES OF THE EARS!!!! Just look at my album and see what they did to my little Coco's ear. They completely took the edge of his ear off not just the hair. Please be careful. Use a scissor only.

YT 500 Club Member | I would never trim Meg's ears myself, and the groomer uses scissors, not clippers. Be careful!
