| Grooming Advice Wanted: 'Before' Pictures I have an appointment for Daisy's first grooming on Wednesday. I have been following threads about this closely and still feel a little anxious. (Then I remind myself that it is only hair and will grow back.) Daisy has a pretty thin coat, compared with pictures of other Yorkies here that is. I have no experience with this breed. I think she might have a silky coat but I am not sure about that either. Here are some pictures of her body and face. I thought we got one of her whole body but I guess not. She is 7 months old. I think her head is a little small for her body so she will look better if her head is not clipped too close. I want to continue to grow out the top hair, for now at least, so that she can wear it up but trim her ears. I think her chest looks scruffy and needs trimming. Then just the ambiguous 'puppy cut' for body and legs? I think that means trimming the body to about one inch and leaving the legs long? She also needs her hair trimmed closely around her bottom as she gets some poo tangles and her inner thighs get wet with pee. What do you think?

| I went through exactly what you are going through when it was time for madison to be groomed. I ended up having her body hair length about thigh length on the sides. I like the long facial hair and topknot hair. here's a picture. Also, I ask the groomer to do a 'saddle shave' on her little hiney. Good luck she's adorable. |

| Remy is 8 months and had his first grooming appointment about 2 weeks ago. I struggled with the same issues and actually ended up just getting a "sanitary" groom - ie - cleaned up the hair between his pads, his little private areas, checked his ears (no work necessary), and trimmed the hair around his eyes (only a few that were getting into his eyes). Aside from that he did not have anything else trimmed. For the first experience it was perfect. I was able to stay with him the entire time, and the only thing he really reacted to was the dryer - she could not use it around his face so his hair on his head air-dryed. Good luck with your appointment! |

No Longer a Member | Chloe with longer hair and shorter hair. I always went with a puppy cut on chloe. I also let her grow out some too. When she got longer, it was a lot of work getting all the tangles out. She is now shorter and a lot easier to take care of. |

| Thanks Thanks guys, I will post some pictures later this week. She is not as silvery as she appears in the pictures, she is very black. When I look at the roots it is more silver though. She is going to look very different with a hair cut I think. I feel the way I felt when I cut my children's hair for the first time. I hated to cut off those blond curls at the end of their brown hair!

| I wish you luck tomorrow! I'm taking Ginger for her first groom tomorrow too so I know exactly how you feel! I have been researching pictures for days and I think I'm going for the "sanitary trim" and just a little tidying. When it gets really hot this summer, I may go a little shorter. I'm going to have to ease in to it. LOL!

| I've always gotten Amelia the 'puppy cut' too cause if I'm not going to show her why leave it long? Unless I really like brushing hair. not a fan. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ictureid=45004 |
