| My Silvia's coat was a two-tone blue/gray until she was about a year & a half or two years old, then it lightened even further to what it is today, silver/white. She was blue born as a puppy, looked like a normal yorkie for about eight months and then took on a unique color pattern all her own. It is AMAZING how much they change! The pictures below are: three weeks, six months, one & a half years and current.

| I love the silver too. My female was really black backed until she was 4 or 5. She ended up very silver with gold head and legs. She was actually blacker than my male was as a puppy, but my male stayed pretty dark. I have also been wondering, other than looking at the parents colors, how do you know what you might end up with?

| Boo is an adult and really the only change is between his 'summer' and 'winter' coat. 1) Summer slickness 2) Winter fuzzies

| carlyn6884: A blue born yorkie is not the normal black and tan color of other puppies, it is actually more of a silver/gray and tan color, or some are even solid gray. I'm not on my home computer right now, so I don't have the picture I want to post of Silvia with her littermates, but I found two good pictures on the internet that I've attached. See the difference in coloring?

| I had a male once who's coat didn't change from black to blue silver until he was almost five years old. My current male changed before he was a year old.... |

| Females can change a lot due to hormones too. Sometimes breeding will increase the lightening of their "black" parts. My Ben went through a period where the hair on top of his head turned very silver (maybe 6 months to a year old), but it is now back to gold/tan, but lighter than his beard. I just went through some of his pictures and his coloring seems like it changes ever 6 months or so. I was having trouble uploading them and finally gave up.

| I love the silver yorkie but maybe I am a little confused I thought I read some where that blue borns don't usually survive more than a few days. I think I am going to have to start taking notes lol. Here are pictures of Laddy. 9wks 13 wks 17wks 22wks We call him our little chameleon because he seems to change every day. |
