Dirty After Walks I love to take my little guy for walks, but he gets so dirty afterwards and I end up spending more time washing him afterwards than walking with him. How do you keep long hair from getting matted and dirty when taking him for walks (even on sidewalks)? Last edited by Titus mom; 02-15-2009 at 06:27 AM.

We have the same problem here. I think a yorkie is like a sidewalk mop

Is he getting dirty around his feet, or completely? I put shoes on my puppy when I take her for walks and it helps a lot. Plus, she always wears some sort of shirt or sweater over her harness. I haven't noticed her get very dirty, but then again, she's a short haired breed. But I would definitely look into shoes.

I love the 'sidewalk mop'! Thanks for your suggestion on the shoes, I'll try that. My problem is also with the rest of his hair, he gets dirty all over. He has long hair. I've tried to put shirts on him, but that seems to matt his hair pretty bad with the friction of walking. He also gets real dirty in the face area when he sniffs down. I've been tempted to wrap him up in saran wrap....just joking!

| Maybe putting his face hair in little buns will help? Have the shoes helped?
