| what kind of shampoo for a full coated yorkie Hiya, I am new here and I am a groomer. I have a request Yorkie that I groom on a regular basis. She is in full coat, with a pull up topknot; the whole works. I am looking into a shampoo that would work better with her coat than the one my salon uses. She isn't exactly to standard. She has a very thick coat. It is pretty dry at the ends as well. In fact, the hair has almost stopped growing at the ends of her skirt and I am assuming it is because of damage. She has the type of coat that no matter how matted or tangled up it is, it can be brushed out. Its not a single/silky coat that a the standard calls for. It is very long and straight though. I use a Chris Christenson(spelling) brush on her. Never a slicker. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on what kind of shampoo and/or sprays I could use on her to improve her coat. And tips on how to work on her coat. (ps I have a Maltese I kept in full coat, but with this Yorkie her coat type is totally different. WHat I did for Skwooshee, my Malt, doesn't really work for her) Thanks a bunch |

| My girl has a long coat and I use Minksheen shampoo and pantene conditioner. I use Chris Christensens Ice on Ice as a spray on conditioner. I use Cowboy magic as a detangler to get out matts

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Hi, and welcome to YorkieTalk, how nice of you to try to find a special product for one of your clients. I just took Joey to his breeder to be groomed and she used a product on him that I have never heard of before, it's called Ring 5/Gerard-Pellham Whispering Mist. This is a spray on conditioner, and I couldn't believe the difference it made. The broken hairs seemed to mend themselves, and he looked ready for the show ring when she was finished. She said that the trick was to shake the bottle thoroughly and spay once on each side, otherwise it would look oily. She's a show breeder, and I believe that she's tried many of the products out there, so when she recommends something, I listen. It smells really good too. Here's a link: Ring 5/Gerard-Pellham Whispering Mist 8 Oz

| I just had my male Biewer groomed and he was given a hot oil treatment. His hair now feels, looks and smells absolutely wonderful! Murfee has a coat that doesn't tangle either but it is thick and the hot oil treatment worked wonders. |

I'm currently using Iv San Bernard products and do love them, especially the PEK conditioner.....it's amazing and I'm not easily amazed by grooming products.
