| What Did I Do Wrong With Oils??? Yorkie Owners...I do NOT show any Yorkies at all...But love the long coats...Sofie, Weezie and Sage have NEVER been totally cut down...Galahad and Teddy have. I've had mine in oil for some time and choose to take them out of oil. I think this may of led to my problems??? I don't know really what started my trouble all I know is I used the Vellus Clarifying Shampoo on them after having them in oil for a Month and then 2 of my 5 started itching...Below is a run down of what I've done to them as far as oils and such. You can go here to get the info. on how it all has been for me: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ml#post2162750 Always used Plush Puppy Shampoos and Conditioner on all Yorkies, have used C&C but liked the Plush Puppy better. 12/07 Started using our own personal hair dryer on Yorkies due to it being cold outside. Never used hair dryer on my Yorkies till now...Always allowed them to dry natural. 2/17/08 Started using Durrestede Shampoos and Conditioners due to Galahads' Head and Muzzle being so very dry. 4/14/08 Put all 5 Yorkies in Nuetrogena Oil and still used the Durrestede Shampoos and Conditioners...Bathed every 5 days, even went down to every 4 days on bathing all 5. 5/15/08 Used Vellus Clarifying Shampoos & Conditioner on all 5...To remove oil and then put them right back in the oil. 5/?/08 Went back to using the Durrstede 6/15/08 Used the Vellus Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner (Clarifying once a month) Went back to using the Durrstede 7/17/08 Used the Vellus Clarifying Shampoo, Show Shampoo and Conditioner (Clarifying once a month) Went back to using the Duurstede 7/18/08 Took all 5 Yorkies out of oil using the Vellus Clarifying Shampoos and Conditioner 7/24/08 Gave all 5 Yorkies Baths in Duurstede Shampoo and Conditioner 7/26/08-7/27/08 Gave all 5 Yorkies Baths in Duurstede and Conditioner 8/1/08 Here came the matts (We did have a Yard Sale this weekend on Sat and Sun and I didn't get to groom as I usually do so here it all started Remember I'm honest and when I don't do something that I should even tho it is MY WRONG I admit it and this could be where I didn't do the right in letting them go for 2 days??? Correct me if I'm wrong here. Can anyone help me find out where I went wrong...What did I do that I should of done or what didn't I do that I not of done??? How do you do a Yorkie when you TAKE them OUT of OIL????? Can someone give me Step by Step Instructions and the Dos and Don'ts of it all??? PLEASE I don't ever, ever want to put my babies or me through this again...Just take a look at little ol' Sofies pictures below... I started on her yesterday morning on and off all day long...(Had to care for take care of my real girls too and run to school for my youngest) but it took me till 12:15 A.M this morning to get her 100% done...That's dematting, shampooing in Vellus Clarifying Shampoo, Show Shampoo and Conditioner, Vellus Satin Cream...And blow drying her. I will use the Vellus Static Stabilizer on her today and comb/brush through as told to do by Sharon and see if that works for her. I thought I'd never get her done... I did have to use C&Cs Ice On Ice on Sofie...The Vellus Satin Cream & Static Stabilizer would NOT remove ANY...(Sharon told me to use this above to remove mats, not my mats, didn't work) Cowboy Magic would NOT remove them either... The C&C was the best for us, she slept right though it all...And some of these mats was to her skin...I just put the C&C on her mats inside out...LOL I mean I covered them with it, I had to or cut them and I wasn't going to cut them out...I started at the bottom of the mats and separated what I could and then used my C&C Stainless Steel Comb to SLOWLY and EVERY SO GENTLY work them out...Took Forever, she lost a lot of coat but she still has it...Now hopefully it will grow back in and I can keep them from digging their skin. Any help in that??? Do you think it was the Vellus or me not grooming those two days??? Just think I have 3 yes 3 more to demat with long coats...(Teddy is already done, yes he was bad too and took me the whole day as Sofie did to get back into shape) So I'd say it will take me another 2 days of this process to get them all back in shape...Weeize is worse off them Sage or Galahad...So please wish me the best of luck Hugs, Lee |

| Her coat is gorgeous!!!!!! That is alot of matting that came out. I have absolutely no experience with Vellus, Durrestede, Plush Puppy or CC shampoos and conditioners, nor with the Neutrogena oils. My Angel has a very silky coat, but she does tangle easily and if I don't brush her daily, I'm pulling lots out of her. I love Minksheen shampoo for her. If bathing once a week, I only need to use a spray when brushing her to just make sure I'm not brushing a dry coat (I use CC Fusion brush and butter comb). I love both the Buddy Spray and Cain & Angle Lavender Between Bath Spritz. I have been using the CC Silk Spirits with her as well. After shampooing with the Minksheen, you use a dime-size dollop of the Silk Spirits and work it through the hair down to the skin, then dry as usual. This keeps her shiney and makes less static as well.
