| brushing & treats Ok i want to know how many treats u guys give to ur pupp in a grooming section? and how long? the reason why is im going to almost 2weeks of having my baby girl she is going to be 14weeks so i started really small like letting her sniff the brushes etc.... then i started brushing her and giving her a treat after a minute or so of brushing her, but im begging to think im over doing it and giving her to many cause now i cant make her stay still she just tries to get my hands looking for treats so i cant keep her steady, if any one has time to explained to me how they started their pup with the grooming, like how long? how many treats in between etc that can give me a better idea of whati can do better, ill be gratefull. i feel like im giving her more treats than actually progressing and her side are starting to matt and havent been able to get those cause she is to busy chasing my hand. lol HELP |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I never had to give Ruby any treats for grooming. But then she never did really fight me during grooming. Reno has been a little more difficult than Ruby, but with consistency, patience and persistence it's getting easier. It sounds like you haven't had her very long, maybe it's just a matter of time and just being patient with her. Good luck!

| i'm a groomer, and my advice would be to start her real slow with grooming, like you are start by brushing her for 10 minutes one day and give her a treat only when you are finished IF she was good. then the next day or so try 15 minutes, giving her a treat after you are done grooming her. and continue on from there getting to longer and longer grooming sessions. but i would reccommend only a treat afterwards to show her she was good but not to spoil her to the point of her expecting treats those silly dogs sure like their treats haha what kind of a brush are you using on her?
