| Need help..slade looks horrible Well I'm pretty much broke right now, and trying to save money. Slade needed grooming really bad. He was just a huge ball of fur and its beginning to become matted, so I thought I would shave him down, all except his face. I have Wahl clippers and put the 1/8 inch guard on there. I started w his back and he now looks like I took a hack saw or something to his fur. Its all uneven and clumpy. I stopped before I made it look any worse. Can anyone give me any pointers? He is a yorkie/poodle mix so he has a cottony coat.

| I think you need to keep going over him with the clippers until they stop cutting hair. I have never shaved a yorkie before, but this is what I do with my schnauzer. Depending on the quality of the clippers, you will need to go over the coat many times and it will eventually even out. Are you going in the direction of growth, or opposite? Once enough has been cut and you know the hair won't pull, you need to clip in the opposite direction of hair growth. Depending on where on the body you're shaving, the hair is growing in a different direction. Good luck! |

| Here's a couple pictures of A.J. He's a schnauzer/poodle mix...his hair is curly like a poodle. I keep his hair really short all over his body or it'll mat really bad. The hair on his head is a little bit longer and he's has a schnauzer beard. Try using scissors to help even him out. GEDC0820.JPG GEDC0839.JPG GEDC0841.JPG

| Thanks for the advice! The clippers are just walmart brand, so I'll probably have to go over him a bunch of times. I guess if I make it look worse, he can just wear a tshirt til it grows out.
