Question HELP! Powder for Plucking Ears?

Tatum is going NUTS today with scratching inside her ears and I think it could very well be due to the fact that they need to be plucked. I looked in them a few minutes and did see hair that needs to come out, so I think that this is what the problem is. I know this is going to sound horrible, but I have never plucked her ears before

Anyway my question is....do they have the Powder available at Petsmart that you use when plucking their ears? I know I can order it online, but I REALLY need to do this today....she is just going crazy and I want to get that hair plucked out ASAP. If someone could let me know if this is available at Petsmart, I will run right now and pick it up so that I can get my poor babies ears plucked...and Stedman's too while I'm at it!

Thanks in advance!

I am not so sure by yours but I know mines do carry it. (Can you call the store?)

Here's a video that I used to teach myself! I had no idea how to use the ear powder

OH GOOD! WHEW! Thanks girl! I am going to call the store right now but figured I would ask here first cause most times in our Petsmart no one acts like they know anything I figured that if I called and asked they would just act like I was nuts and have absolutely no idea what I was talking about lol...but I am going to call and see anyway.

I just watched Marci's (Layla's mom) Ear Plucking video...but I will click on the link you gave me and watch that one too...thank you so much girl!!

Thanks everyone for the help! Just got back form Petsmart a little while ago and they did have some so I picked it up and will be attempting to pluck the babies ears in a few Hopefully all will go smoothly, LOL. I'm worried about Stedman though...he hates EVERYTHING...say a prayer lol.

Thanks again!

I use the powder in all my kids ears, placing it with a Q-tip! BUT I only pluck a few hairs every other day until they are all gone. I also use an ear wash to clean the canal with. They don't like it but they never yelp so I know it is not hurting them and is much better for their ears...JMHO

Well.......I DID IT I am an official Yorkie Ear Plucker!

The babies did not mind it one single bit...not even STEDMAN! They just sat there and let me do it and didn't make even the tiniest of peeps Such good little babies they were! I am so proud of them (ok I know I sound totally nuts now - but just bare with me here...I am having a "mommy moment, LOL) - I was just nervous at first because this is something that I personally haven't ever done before and I didn't want to hurt them....but I will be doing it from now on

Tatum seems to feel MUCH better! She hasn't scratched at her ears even ONCE since I plucked

YAY!!!

Oh good! I'm happy it seemed to help with Tatum's scratching! I was a lil nervous about plucking too. I thought I'd get grossed out or worry too much about hurting him. but, it wasn't bad at all! He goes to sleep while I do it sometimes.

It REALLY did! I am just amazed that she has not scratched her ears at all since I plucked the hair from them Even my hubby noticed and commented on it...LOL. He was nervous when I was plucking them - he kept asking me, "Are you SURE your not hurting her????" - I'm like hun, do you hear her crying at all!?!??? LOL - she was totally fine! She just sat there like a good little girl....perfectly content with her lil' self

Maybe Tatum will eventually end up falling asleep when I do it too....heck, she does it when I bathe her, why not when I pluck her ears, lol!

Sandy and Brooke thanks so much for posting this. I don't do this since our groomer does it but you never know that someday I might have to. I always wondered how to pluck and use the ear powder..now I know.

Great post you guys!

LOL!!! Haha! Girl that is hilarious...but OMG, I am being totally serious with you here...it really is NOT bad AT ALL. I was soo scared of hurting them...but HELLO - if STEDMAN sits there and lets me do it without saying anything, then you KNOW it isn't bad...LOL. Stedman hates EVERYTHING thing girl and I do mean EVERYTHING. He was actually the one that I was worried about the most because I thought that he would be squirming all over the place while I was plucking, but he honest to God just sat there and didn't make a peep lol. We were all kind of in amazement

As for the nails, I only do Tatum's myself - NOT Stedman's....I won't even go into how bad he is when we attempt to trim his nails on our own I take him to the vet to have his nails trimmed and believe it or not...it takes the person trimming his nails PLUS 3 other nurses to hold him down...and he is only 4 lbs LOL. He is so so bad!
