| Yay! I finally trimmed up Parkers ears and paws. I have been so scared to do it but I am really proud of myself. Someone wrote before that it gets easier and easier the more you do it. Now SHAVING THAT HINEY!!! EKK I have to have my husband help me with that i am WAY to scared to go down that road alone. And nails, I have his vet do this nails and relieve his anal sac...not so sure I am ready for that either Just thought I would post to celebrate our first trimming! Too if anyone has any suggestions on trimmers, clippers, or different techniques on grooming I would love to hear them. Oh and "plucking" the ear hairs...is that necessary, can your just trim them...whats your suggestions. I have read many opinions on ears! THanks!! |

| YAY! I decided to do all Jamie's grooming myself. I figured I might as well start now since I do want to get a little girl one day soon and I don't think I can afford regular professional grooming for 2 furbutts. So I bought a Wahl pet trimmer to do his paws and booty, but he hates the sound SOO I just do it with tiny scissors. Given the right incentative (Yorkie Yummies or a carrot to knaw on) Jamie is really still for all of it. And trimming his nails really wouldn't be that hard for you. Just trim a little each time. I also have to use a small black nail file to round off the sharp edges. I've never expressed his glands because I was told that that didn't need to be done unless he was scooting his butt on the ground. But if it did have to be done I would PROBABLY let the professionals handle it. LOL! Oh and my vet has my plucking the hairs inside Jamies ears. It has something to do with the hairs holding moisture in his ear which could cause bacteria or yeast. So I think you would have to pluck and not just trim but I'm not sure...

| Congratulations to you. It really does get easier the more you do it. There is a powder you can put in the ear that allows you to get a better grib if hair needs to be taken out. I have never even cleaned Buddy's ears. They have very little hair in them and are always pink inside. I use a Whal moustache trimmer for the butt area and private area. Took me a couple of times to use it before I felt comfortable with it. It does not pull and does a good job in these areas. I also use it under his neck. Depending on the cut you give your pup. Keep up the good work and you will be glad you did. No more worry about sending him off to the groomer's and hating the cut. You now only have yourself to blame if you don't like it. I will not cut his nails. I am afraid of that. I did just order the new peticure for them. Do a search on it and you might like it. No cutting just place the nail in the opening and it does the work for you. Check it out. |
