| Hair breakage question....please help! LilyGrace has been scratching a lot....it seems this started after emu oil So today after her bath, I did not use emu oil...and so far, no scratching. BUT anyway....and again, this seems to have happened when I used emu oil (I used too much of it)...but Lily would scratch and get her hair all tangled. Her claws (yes they have been trimmed) would get caught in the tangles...what a mess. After spraying with conditioner and combing the tangles out, so much hair would come out and there is a lot of breakage in some areas. Today her hair has not been tangled. So I am thinking it was the use of too much oil. --other Mojo's hair didn't get that way. What is the best product to use to help w/ the tangles and hair breakage. And a new conditioner too! Any lists of products that are tried and true would be GREATLY appreciated!

| I use vo5 detangling spray.. it comes in a red bottle..and it doesnt leave the hair greasy... I use coat handler conditioner... rub the conditioner over the tangle and then rinse... always use a blow dryer while brushing... it help to loosen the hair ..... I hope this helps |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I use the minksheen shampoo on lulu and don't have to use any conditioners. Once she is fully dry she is totally soft like a fuzzy blanket. She used to have a brillo like coat. Good luck. Maybe the emu oil isn't good for her. What works on one dog might not be the best on another. If she is scratching like that maybe she is allergic to it.

| I really like coat handler shampoo and conditioner. Vellus products are nice also. |

I just talked w/ my vet today (LilyGrace had a checkup) and she said that emu oil is really not that good for long hair because it will causing matting underneath etc. I told her that a lot of people use it and recommend it and that I know I used too much of it. I have been using SheaPet (I have several different shampoos, that I will switch up every now and then) and I really like it. It seems to cleanse good and condition good (or so I think...with Mojo anyway)...and they are both soft and silky and just so wonderful feeling!!!

| Write or call the company and ask if they have a sample you can try first. I tried Coat Handlers and it made my girls coats seem too dry. I would just ask for samples at a few companies and then you can see what works best on your guys before buying a whole bottle. |

| I have recently been using a conditioner called Quicker Slicker. it is the most amazing product i have ever seen. i was using almond oil to put my two show dogs in oil and my girl's hair dried up so much underneath and matted to the skin. i had to take her to a groomer just to dematt her. she warned me against using it and the emu oil which i also tried. |
