| What age did you start taking your baby to the groomer? Hello YT Family! I am a proud parent of a cute 2 1/2 lb 11 week old yorkie named Polo. His nails are quiet long now and his hair seems to be growing quiet fast. He doesn't really have a smell, but being new to the dog owners club I am not confident in clipping his nails or giving him a normal bath. Is he too young to go to the groomer? What age is appropriate to take them to the vet and does he have to have all his shots before going? Last edited by LadyV; 11-28-2007 at 07:21 AM. Reason: Reformat question for clarity |

| I'm wondering the same thing.... Pippa is 14 weeks and I've been thinking about taking her somewhere to get "beautified"!

| I took Penny at about five months. I just kept her face trimmed up a little myself.

| I think you can take them anytime after they have all their shots, and the bordetella nose drops. I think we took Emma around 4-5 months old. The groomer said it was a good idea to take them young and get them used to it. My groomer only charged I think around $25, and kept Emma all day. She took her out, played, then gave her a bath...then put her back in the cage. Then a little while later, they played, and she trimmed nails, then back to the cage. Then out again, playtime, and she trimmed some of her hair, etc. Just to get her used to the idea and to be comfortable with being there.

| they have to have all their shots before you can take them to the groomer(at least the ones around me?) i took Avery in to have her nails trimmed, while i held her. but other than that, i still havent taken her in to be groomed.. i just do it all myself. i even started cutting her nails on my own now too(that was only thing i wasnt doing). ill probably take her in(sometimes) randomly and have them bathe her and do some of the stuff i do to maintain her(nails, trim butt, check ears, etc..just no cut)-i am too worried they might cut too much..especially around the face. but if i do have them cut her hair..ill bring a picture in(if i want something specific).
