| You may find better answers if you post in the Health section and/or Sick/Emergencies. However, here are a few links to past discussions with people sharing your experience now that might help to answer your question--or I would recommend you try to send a private message to one who has gone through what you will be going through soon: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...condition.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...d-trachea.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...ve-worked.html YTNR Collapsing Trachea.com Hope you are able to get some starter information at least from those links. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry to hear your baby has CT. I had 2 male yorkies with it and they both did ok it only bothered them when they got excited. They lived a normal life span and passed from other conditions. I had a 6 1.2 year old female that had it so severe that surgery couldn't be done and she ended up with complications from it and sadly had to be put to sleep. How old is you baby and how did they diagnose it? With an Xray? Many dogs can live full lives is spite of the trachea problem.

| Collapsed trachea My dtr.'s yorkie has this problem. It started out as a cough. When it did not go away I paid for xrays and found out the worst. We then took her into a emmergency care centre in Vancouver. They will only do it if it is an emmergency. The specialist suggested we reduce jogging or any exercise that makes them breathe reaLLY hard. It has been a year and so far dog is doing well with the collasped trachea! |

| my dog has that too; yorkies are predisposed to this; however surgery can be more dangerous; you can limit excersice; no running just walking; use a harness not a leash ;you dont want to put anything around the neck. my dog used to cough for almost one year and we diddnt know why; but now it happens once in a while when she gets too exited or runs. don't worry it should be okay

| I didn't notice this thread until now. I don't know how successful or not the stint surgery is. It used to be not very successful, stint would collapse within months of surgery. I know with the right meds, it can be very treatable in some cases. You might want to find a Vet in the Calgary area familiar with Toy breeds of dogs as this is not an uncommon problem in the small breeds. |

The agility part, ramps, jumps etc., you don't want to do that part until your pup is over a year old. Too young is too hard on their joints and they can do themselves an injury. Basic obedience would be ok but not agility. | |

| I got the info for classes. A couple of yorkies I sold a few years ago started out with these classes and are highly recommended by the owners of the dogs. Underwood Dog Training | Canine Trainer For agility, this one is recommended but it looks like they are in Bby. Dog Agility in Burnaby, BC Canada: Paws Ahead |
