You can contact Agriculture Canada and subhead import/export requirements, but our rescue has adopted animals into the States and required nothing more than CURRENT vaccine records. I suspect coming into Canada would be the same. To be 100% safe, it wouldn't be a bad idea to also have documentation that the pet has been examined by a vet within the past 10 days. (You might want to ask your vet, they may know....or contact the breeders forums, anybody who shows and travels into Canada would probably know.)
Nine times out of ten though, they don't even ask about the pet, and if you have current paperwork, I doubt that you'll have any trouble whatsoever. It will be far more timeconsuming, frustrating etc.etc. getting your OWN records, permits etc. in order.
Good luck.

Hi Cathi,

I think all you need is current health records as well. Here is a link that tells you what is required. http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/...rt/dogse.shtml

Welcome to Canada too.

I am pretty sure all you need is to show a health record and that they are up to date on rabies! Welcome to Canada where are you moving to?

Animal Smiley 036 A place in...

Ontario called Toronto. My husband is from Sherbrooke in Quebec.
I do not speak French so it is not the place for me. My husband is looking for job at some hospital and we will be looking for a place to live up there before we move. We can't move until his job is finished here and we don't know when.

Well here is the scoop...all you need to get into Canada with your pets, is a rabies shot..and you need the papers..that is it..too easy..
Not to worry, there is never a problem doing this...we went to nova scotia this year...we never have problems going into canada, with our yorkies...

Thumbs up Strait forward...

We went to visit and all we needed was a health certificate from our vet and Rabies certificate up-to-date also from our vet... i suggest you contact your vet and they will get all ready for you in no time. The health certificate expires withing so many days so you want to make sure you have a date set before you get your certificates. They can also be renewed withing a few days of expiration without being charged... in case something happens and you miss your date .... good luck in your new Home !!!!!

You should have no problem. When I brought Thor through the border, they didn't even ask for any papers...When he flew alone though, they did. Good luck on the move. I moved from NC to BC...it'll be a bit colder than your used to!

Default Border Crossing

I live in Hamilton, just west of Toronto. You only need paperwork to prove the animal is up to date on shots. In the many years I have crossed the border with dogs and returned to Canada, I have never been asked to provide it either way.
