| Thank you for all the wonderful welcome posts. I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. We had a family bbq. My dogs had fun all day, with dips in the pool to cool off and playing with the two other dogs at the event, a Pug and a Japanese Chin. The 4 dogs play together often, as the Chin is my mom's dog and the Pug is my cousin's dog. For great pictures of all 4 dogs, visit my blog: Doreen Lombardo - Insurance Professional and Employee Benefits Specialist: Are you a Dog Lover? Things went well up until it got dark and the fireworks started. My 4-year-old, Baby, got herself really worked up. She pants, she gets very nervous, her heart beats a mile a minute and she literally tries to climb up on top of my head. She does the same thing with thunderstorms. I do my best to calm her, but she just shakes in my arms. My one-year-old, Lexxi, ran and hid under bushes. One of the kids was able to get her out, and there I sat in the yard, with the two of them in my lap. My sister suggested giving them something to calm them next year. I think I will speak to the vet next year to see what she thinks will help. I finally had to take them inside, and sit with them in my room with the television up very loud. However, they still heard some of the louder booms. How did everyone's furbabies enjoy and/or handle the holiday? |
