Agility

Paddington and I took our first formal agility class on Saturday. He did so well he's already running over the obstacles and following my commands off leash. He only has to work on the weaves because he'd never seen them before. I think by the end of the 6 week course he'll be really good at this so I'm trying to learn all about how to compete in agility. Does anyone else here do agility with their dogs? How do you get into competition?

I think user lopresm dog Remi might do agility classes.

There are clubs that do agility, you just have to search for one in your area. I thought about doing agility with Chip, but realized all the wear and tear on the joints, and possible injuries that can happen with it.

ya I did worry about that, but with the way Paddy runs around like a nut in our tiny apartment I think the structured release of energy will be healthier in the long run. Injuries can happen no matter what you do. He broke his leg last year on a normal innocent walk. He's young now so hopefully he'll be able to do it for a couple of years. Plus I am trying to become a canine physical therapist so I'll know what to do should any problems arise.
