| San Francisco vacation? We've visited San Francisco before, but not with a pet. Does anyone have experience taking their yorkie here for vacation? We like to explore on foot and by public transit - will this work with a tiny one (4 lbs) in tow? She's very outgoing and loves to meet and greet. Are there a variety of restaurants that will permit dogs on outdoor patios? What about Napa or Sonoma? Will wineries let you carry one in? Any advice or tips are appreciated. This is very early in the planning stage so no firm plans yet if not a good idea. P.S. Flying over from east coast |

| You may want to rent a car, SF is dog friendly but public transportation does not allow dogs on board. Having said that, I have seen people bring their little dogs on buses in their carrier unknown to the bus driver. Check out DogFriendly.comŽ - Pet Travel Guides and City Guides for Dog/Pet Owners or buy The Dog Lovers Companion to California guide... just be sure to get the latest edition. I would also advise to double check and call restaurants and places you wish to visit ahead of time ask if dogs are allowed in case they've changed their policy.

| Last time I was in SF I saw so many yorkies on walks all over the place. Made me wish I had brought Minnie, though I was headed to Yosemite next, and that place is about as pet-unfriendly as you can get.
