| Nervous Mocha will go to the bathroom in her crate Hi everyone, I got my puppy Mocha (actually she just had her first heat so I guess she's no longer a puppy ) last April 2012. She is about 1 year old. My fiance and I got her here in Mexico, and will soon be traveling back to the USA next month. This will be Mochas first trip anywhere! I am so nervous! My biggest fear is that she will pee or poop in her crate or carrier on the airplane! She has never been in a carrier or crate before, so we will need to purchase one for the trip. The trip will be just about 4 hours in length. How do I get over my fear?? What do I do if this happens! She will be in cabin, and I am so nervous! Any advise, tips, suggestions? Should I put a diaper on her LOL!? |

| No you are right. I plan on getting her a crate or bag before the trip to get her used to it. She's not really picky about small spaces, for some reason she loves to sleep in our little square hamper filled with clothes, but I'm not taking chances, and I am going to buy it before the trip to make sure she is used to it and comfortable. |

| Hi, welcome to Yorkie Talk! Get Mocha's carrier, put her in and give her a treat. Repeat again, and again, and again, until she learns to equate being in the carrier w/ getting treats and good things. Take her for rides in the car in her bag, and treat her for being quiet and not scratching. Slowly increase the amount of time she stays in the carrier. If you are worried about her going potty, put a disposable puppy pad in the bottom of the carrier. Yes, a diaper is an option too, but again, get her use to wearing one before the trip. Take some wet paper towels in a baggie, a couple of small plastic bags, and some dry paper towels, in case of motion sickness or accidents. I travel by plane every couple months with all three of my girls (without any problems). Spending the time to train Mocha before the trip will bring you safe, stress free and happy travels. Best wishes. Have a great trip!
