| Southwest with your Yorkie? Has anyone flown Southwest Airlines with your yorkie? I bought an airline approved carrier by Sherpa and then find out that Southwest is the only airline the that they will not guarantee to get onboard with it unless it is a small. I bought a medium so Jersey would have a little more room and now I am worried the Southwest will say it is too big. The only problem with the dimensions seems to be the height. It is 10.5 inches tall and the standards say it has to be 8.5 inches tall. Anyone flown Southwest here that can give me an opinion? Thanks! |

| Sorry, I've not flown with a pet... I have read of others having pets flown to them in the cabin. Hopefully someone will respond soon. Have you tried searching threads on this site? Are you close enough to the airport to go by with the carrier and confirm they will allow it in the cabin? Sorry, just throwing ideas out there.

| I've flown Southwest from Chicago to San Diego a few times using a black Delta sherpa carrier that is 18" L x 11" W x 10.5" H. I've never had an issue taking a dog on a Southwest flight.

| When I've flown I've never been asked the size of my bag. Most of the time they don't even know a dog is in it I think as long as it will fit under the seat it wont be an issue. One time I flew the atttendents let me sit Mitzy on my lap, but I think it was only because the flight was pretty empty and the attendents wanted to see her. If its a soft sided bag though I'm sure it will be ok because it will be able to mold a little under the seat where as a hard sided crate/kennel would not be able to.

| As long as you can get it under the seat in front of you, it is OK....I have that size Sherpa and have had no problems with Southwest, and that size was a fit!....I love that airline! I was soooo happy when they started allowing us to have our babies in the cabin! |

| That size Sherpa has wire in it that makes it bendable (squishable). I have no problems with that bag. I fly Southwest with the fur kids often. In fact, we flew with them last week. I agree with Yorkiemom1!
