| Puppy on the plane I get my new baby next week and I'm very excited. I'd like to take him home for the holidays but he'll be about 3 days shy of 8 weeks old. Will he be ok to make an hour and a half flight? |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Im not a breeder nor any kinda expert so dont quote me but ive been doing some research on this kind of situation and what ive been seeing is that 8 weeks is to young to take a puppy from his/her mother. So i dont think it is a good idea. |

| Could he stay with the breeder until you come back? He really should stay with his Mom and littermates until he's 12 weeks old. They learn a lot about socialization during those last 4 weeks. Then there's his shots. At that age he should only have his 2nd set of shots and he needs 3 sets. Even then, we were told not to take our kids out for 10 days after they were given. They can catch diseases from other dogs and their feces just from taking a walk or going to the dog park. I'd say it's really not a good idea to take him with you - for his well being. Sorry...

| Thanks for your help. I'll definitely consult with the vet. I don't know if I can stand being away from him for 3 more weeks but of course I want to do what's best for my new baby. |

| Oh good. I'm happy to hear that. I know it'll be hard but it's really better for him and then you in the long run. Here's an article about puppy stages. Puppy Development
