| Carrier counts as carry-on? According to the Continental.com website, "An in-cabin pet may be carried in lieu of a carry-on bag" Anyone know if this Continental policy is typically enforced? Wondering if I can get away with also bringing a small carry-on suitcase, especially if the flight is not full. Her carrier is a small canvas Kwigy-Bo bag (airline approved), looks like a purse. Other than that, all set for a fabulous trip with London thanks to all the great info in this forum |

YT 500 Club Member | I have used Meg's carrier in place of my purse and still had a large backpack carry on, so I would think you'd be fine. Anything carrier small enough to fit under the seat of a plane will probably be purse-size anyway. If you're worried about it, just carry the dog carrier on the side farthest away from the flight attendant and drape part of it in a lightweight sweater or something.

| It DOES count as a carry-on, but I think you are allowed one carry-on and one personal item (purse/laptop bag), so I think you would probably be able to act like London is your purse and then just stick your carry-on in the overhead bin. Every time I have ever flown with Rory no one even noticed I had a dog and she was in a bigger carrier, so I'll bet, especially if London is quiet, it will be similar for you.

| The last pup I escorted in cabin was on continental and of course we have paid the in cabin pet fee. Since it was a one day trip all I had was the pup and my purse. They made an announcement that only one carry one was allowed and that your purse is counted a carry on. I asked at the counter because i was trying to figure out a way to dump my purse and keep the pet of course and they said I could have both since I had paid for the pup. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | We just returned from a trip to CA and every flight we were on carry on had to be checked at the door of the plane due to the overheads being full before everyone boarded the plane. Good news you don't have to pay the baggage check fee when that happens. Since one is your purse and the other a live animal I don't think they would make you do anything. The dog wasn't a problem on the plane but some seat switching went on just the same on one flight. One person didn't want to sit next to a dog and the other said they were allergic.

| You'll be fine with the KwiggyBo carrier as your puse and a small carry-on. Just keep in mind the carrier will need to remain under the seat and they usually want it kept closed, so it needs to be vented.....
