| Planning a Savannah GA vacation - pet friendly hotel? We are planning a vacation in Savannah GA. Is anyone familiar with Olde Harbour Inn? It is a B&B located in the historic area along the river. It says they are pet friendly and it looks nice on the internet. Or does anyone have other recommendations for pet friendly lodging in the historic area? Also, we are planning to stop for the night somewhere around/between Atlanta & Macon, GA, on our way to Savannah. Does anyone have any recommendations for pet friendly and clean hotel rooms in either of those cities? Seems I have a knack for picking the less-desirable hotel rooms, probably because I look for the cheaper prices.

| LaQuinta is usually very pet friendly. Try the website, Take Your Pet. In any case, ask what their pet deposit is and any size limits although yorkies should not be any problem. We've been to Savannah and Tybee Island twice, early Dec for our anniv. and early July for JB Bday (hot, hit 100 and crackerjack Tstorms in the afternoon) and really enjoyed the area both times. First Saturday each month is a nice waterfront event. Paula Deans was ok, crowded. There are a lot of smaller places to have a bit to eat along the waterfront. Enjoy.

| Thanks Bob; I looked and LQ does have a location just off of I-75 in Macon which would be perfect! Have you ever stayed in the historic area of Savannah? I'm not into hot...so I'm hoping it won't be too hot yet in a couple of weeks when we're there!

| We stayed at a Holiday Inn (125 a night) just north of the Waterfront shops last time and on Tybee Island one Dec long ago. Have not stayed in the historic area. Beware tho', hotels/B&B's usually raise their rates for the 1st weekend Fri/Sat waterfront event. We got lucky when Holiday Inn forgot about it the last time. Check their C of C website.

YT 2000 Club Member | When we are in route on vacation we usually stay at a motel 6. They have always been reasonable priced, clean and no deposit for pets. Then when we get to our destination we stay at a place more upscaled unless we aren't going to spend very much time in our room, then stay in Motel 6 there also.

| You will love Savannah! It's my favorite place and I go there often. I've never taken the babies - but usually see all kinds of pets when I'm there. There's a place on Riverstreet called the Shrimp Factory that has great food. In the past I've always stayed at the Airport Days Inn - but after my last visit, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and will not stay there again. If you're there on a weekend, there's a HUGE flea market (I think it's called Keller's) where you can find anything and everything. I bought a china service for 12 there one year for $20.00 and I still love it. All the restaurants on Riverstreet are good, some are more expensive than others. There's a restaurant a few miles out of Savannah (I think it's called Maria's Steakhouse) that has wonderful steaks. They also have a dessert made of frozen bon bons that's brought out on dry ice. I've eaten there several times, too. If you're into this kind of thing, go to Bona Venture Cemetery. It's fascinating! Also, to get the most info - take a trolley tour. The guides know EVERYTHING! If you stay in Macon - don't go to the old Macon Mall! It's dangerous after dark and a lot of stores there are closing. There's a new shopping center off of 75 across from the Bass Pro Shop that's by far nicer and is also safe.

| The flea market is a few miles away,(maybe 9 or 10 miles?) but WELL worth the trip. It's HUGE. Most of the hotels, etc, have brochures that will give you a map and info.

| Not sure about pet friendly hotels in Savannah but Hamptons usually allow small dogs and seem to be very clean. When in doubt now, that is what we choose.
