| car sickness We went to the groomers the other day and Mandy got car sick. It is only when I travel alone and have to put her in the carrier that she seems to get sick. Any ideas how to combat this? I tried the rescue remedy but it did not work. We live about 20 mins by highway to the city. She seems alright if my husband and I travel together and she sits on one of our laps. Cheryl & Mandy

| Not sure what is causing her to be sick but you could perhaps try some walking out to the car and putting her in her carrier for a couple of minutes and building it up to taking a 5 minute, 10 minute drive etc to see if that helps. It could also be that if she is in her carrier she can't see outside, as opposed to when she sits on your lap, and sometimes this can cause people and animals to be sick. What about a car harness perhaps.

| Camden gets car sick. Someone suggested ginger snaps to us, I haven't tried it yet. I don't know if you take her in the car that often, but Camden has started to do better the more we take her in the car. I think it also helps if it's been a few hours since they ate before they go! I don't know what type of carrier you put her in, but maybe a car seat that sits up higher would help! Good luck!

| LOL Shirl.... I don't care for the ginger snaps either but my husband would gobble them up. What is this other product you mentioned. Is this something you get from the vet? Thanks so much for the suggestion. I am very open to whatever works. With Xmas quickly advancing .. I need to quit wasting $'s and start focusing on presents not yorkie toys, foods, products! Other than her Xmas gifts. Between my husband and the grown children ... I am getting alot of ribbing, about my priorities as of late! Hmmmm..... guess we will just have to lay low for the next little while on the spending! Drats!! LOL. Cheryl & Mandy

| Bella gets sick too. She waits to vomit until the car ride is DONE. I think they fear the car since the only time she gets in it, is to go to the vet. Sometimes I bring her to family's houses and petsmart, so I don't see why she'd still be scared. In the near future, I'm going to be buying a carrier because I can't keep having her vomit all over me and my car. I also want to tame her a bit more than she has been in the past -- I must admit, Im a bad dog owner... Im too nice when it comes to the containment thing.. she was NEVER crate trained (which is why she poops all over the place), shes had full reign of the house all her time here... |

| aww... it was my birthday today... could have asked for a new car seat for my baby... now will have to wait for .... nope... guess anniversary would not work... Christmas is the next gift exchange for me!!! Thanks everyone for the great advice... unable to purchase bromine here but maybe the vet will have something to suggest. I would never know quite how much to give her and sure would not want to make her sicker! A car seat sure sounds like a better idea...and am a little hesitant for the use of medications! I saw in another post that someone made a homemade one! Maybe I could try this route! Again Thanks to all! Cheryl & Mandy

| We bought Buddy a car seat so he can see out the window, this has stopped the car sickness completely.

| We are in the process of finding a car seat... there was a post earlier yesterday but I can not find it now. Someone had made a homemade one... sure would be more interested in doing this because of the large cost involved in purchasing one. Any advice would sure be appreciated! Thanks. Cheryl & Mandy

| I'm with Shirl. Bonine works wonders for my Pommie, Snowboy. He's even able to hold down some water when we are on the road for 11 hrs. Buy it at Wal-Mart or Walgreens. Gingersnaps gave Snowboy loose stools. Joanne

| Lizzie gets sick when in the car only when shes in her carrier. It doesn't matter if we give her a stress ease or not. she still gets sick. But then agian she gets sick when we put her in the carrier period. We just figured it was case she was claustrophobic. |
