| off to Australia???? My Husband is thinking of applying to school in Australia and I was thinking of going with him and bringing Cooper (1 year old yorkie) I have been doing some research about this and if you bring a pet into the UK/Australia area you have to quarantine for a min of 30 days. (which I think would be way to hard on my Cooper and myself) I have come across something called PETS stands for Pet Travel Scheme which requires you to have a pet passport and many things like shots and microchip ect... 6 months before going there and then your pet wouldn't have to be quarantined. So I am just wondering if anyone has gone through any of this stuff We live in Ontario, Canada so the flight would be I think 22 hours maybe more If you have any advice or information that would be greatly appriceated one more thing when you fly with a pet do they have to stay in the crate that you take them in, or can you hold your puppy once the seatbelt sign is off. Thanks you all in advance Jess and Cooper |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Haven't done PETS, but can tell you....whether or not your dog is allowed out of his crate depends entirely on the airline personal working the cabin. Some don't mind if you take them out and others do. Good luck!

| Wow, You have a lot to think about. I went to live there as a child and had to leave my dog behind. My mother had checked into bring my dog but we thought the quarantine would be to long.....That was in the seventies and it sounds like thing have not changed. Australia is a beautiful place and my relatives are all there..........I would not want to leave my Yorkies but I don't know if I could put them in quartantine for that long............. Hope all goes well, good luck.
