Confused HELP--Training has gone out the window!

As most of you know, I have Emmy (1.5 years old) and Oscar (13 weeks). Potty training seems to be the biggest issue we have--and it is a biggie. Please help...I am open to suggestions and have tried so many options already!

1. Neither of them will go on wet grass--so in the mornings (dew), after rain, during rain, etc. it is a no-go outside! Emmy especially HATES it!
2. Oscar seems to be able to "hold it" forever outside, too. He loves to go and run and explore, but as soon as we go in--he goes on the floor. How long should we stay out for him to go--it is really HOT here in Mississippi!
3. Oscar was pretty good about using the potty pads (which are all over the house--one in every room), but now is going everywhere!
4. Emmy refuses to use the potty pad most of the time--or maybe she does not understand what it is.
5. Even if either of them does hit the potty pads for tinkling, they certainly won't poo on them.
6. Prior to my being home for the summer, Emmy was great during the day--as soon as I got home, I would take her outside to potty and then we would walk around (if the weather permitted--she hated the wet grass then, too). BUT once I was home, she would go continuously in the house!

I want your advice on the following...In less than a month, I will have to start back to work teaching. Should I go ahead now and start "penning" them up in the kitchen? That is where they stay if we have to go out without them for anything. There is a potty pad there--not that they use it. That is also where their food and water are located. I HATE making them stay in the one room, but I am going crazy with the pee and poop everywhere. As soon as I clean up one mess, the other is going.

I would not mind just having them potty pad trained--if I could narrow it down to just a couple of pads--not paper the floors with them.

I know this is mostly MINE and MY HUBBY's fault. We were not consistent to begin with and now we are paying the price! I will warn you before you comment that I cannot be HARD-CORE with the furbabies. I want them to learn when and where to go, but no harsh treatments, PLEASE. Hubby and I are too big of pushovers where the babies are concerned!

Please help....Vallery

I know there are a lot of people on YT who can give you excellent advise on this. You may want to try a search on this topic.

I have seen Petsmart offers potty training classes so maybe you could check into that. I sure wouldn't feel bad leaving them penned in the kitchen if I were you, I left mine in crates when I was working, but came home at lunch to let them out. It took about a year for Daisy to catch on.

I still praise them big time when they go potty and poop outside and they know they are good doggies, they are so proud of themselves. Now I don't have any more accidents unless someone is sick in the night. Treats helped me a lot with potty training.

Good luck, believe me I know how frustrating this is.

Smile Thanks

I praise and always treat when they go outside or even inside if they hit the potty pad! I swear Emmy will hold it until she can get to the carpet and then whoosh! She either does not want to go on the pad or does not understand!

I will have to leave them in the kitchen (tiled) because I can't come home during the day once I start back to work. It is a nice big room--sunny--tv is on--and lots of toys, etc. I guess I am going to have to start penning them in the kitchen some during the day now, so it won't be such a dramatic thing once school starts.

Once again, thanks for your advice.
