Default Potty Trainig issue

Hi everyone. I have a similar question as everyone's else's. My yorkie is almost 4 months old. (DOB 3/18) I've had him for 2 weeks. The first 4-5 days he did great with going outside. Never had an accident in those days. Then one day he went inside and I thought it was a one time thing, so, as they recommend, I said NO and tok him to the right place. But now he does it all over the place, all the time! He goes when I take him out, and then like 1/2 hour later he'll go inside in a random place. I tried that spray but it hasn't worked. I'm trying to get him to use newspapers because in Septermber I go back to work. I'm home all day now except to drive to camp. I waited two hours the other day until it was "time" for him to go and sat for 45 minutes with him in the kitchen, enclosed with newspapers all over the floor and he did nothing. 5 minuts later, when I let him out, he went on the floor! I've been really consistent, I hope, and I think, taking him after each nap, each meal, and every 2 hours in between. it seems like he's REFUSING to use the newspaper. and I don't know what to do. SOmetimes, I catch him hunching his back or ready to pee and I say NO, pick him up and take him to the paper and he does nothing. PLEASE HELP ME. I want to do the right thing, but it seems nothing is working. And please tell me anyone, if those wee-wee pads work and are they worth the extra money.

Thanks

Hello

May be he is confused - if he went from going outside to newspapers, that is a big change for him. You have only had him for a short time so he is going to be a little mixed up, he has had a lot to deal with in a short space of time.

Before he came to live with you do you know what method of house training the previous owners were using.

Personally, I would go right back to basics and start over and give him a consistent routine to work with.

Keep taking him out every hour and praise him like crazy when he goes outside. Take up the newspapers and start from scratch.

Let me know what happens.

I use a crate, and someone one this board had a suggestion that I used. Molly was in her crate. Every hour or so I'd take her out to potty. If she pottied, we'd play and have some fun. No potty, back in her crate until the next break. I did this for two days, and it really helped. She's not fully trained yet, but it got us off on a good start!

Just a suggestion, and good luck!!

They told me they were outside in a crate on the deck, and he spread newspapers on the deck and let them out when they had to go.

Now that I think about it a little more, it makes more sense for him to just go inside all the time. Do I just not take him out then? and wait until he does go inside, praise, praise, etc.. I'd rather he go inside than out because I won't be here to take him out.

THanks. I will let you all know about his progress/

Thanks. I bought the potty pads. So far He's used them once on his own during the day. Every other time, I keep bringing him back to the pad. But at night he's been using them consistently for the past 3 days. (we leave him loose upstairs since he's never had to go at night.)
