Default Marcel's Potty Training Went South...

So, he's 7.5 mths. old now - and he was better trained when he was 5 months old!!

Granted, his hormones kicked in about a month ago - so I'm sure he's having a difficult time. He's just lost it most of the time, then suddenly - he goes on the pad. Next day, pees on our bed, pees on the couch, pees wherever he wants.

We want to wait until Sept. for the neuter to allow him to gain as much weight as possible beforehand (currently 2.5 pounds) - so we're kinda stuck.

My QUESTION is, do you think this is marking? And, once he's neutered, will his memory kick back in or will we be basically starting from scratch?

Ann, my Tiger got neutered when he was about 11 months old so even after he was fixed he continues to mark Good thing he has been on BB forever otherwise I would have yellow carpet

Maybe someone with more experience will be able to answer your concerns

I love his avatar pictures . . . and he is such a tiny precious little stud muffin

I did buy some BBs (from Tiger's Mom!!!!) , so I'll start to use those - but I still want the little turd to learn right from wrong in terms of where to go. He was doing so, so well - and I just can't figure out what happened!

Default Oh No!

Don't tell me that I have this marking to look forward to in a few months. Zachary is 14 weeks old and is doing fairly well with his potty training. I will go nuts if he starts marking on everything I have. I pray that don't happen to me.

U and I are in the same boat yet again!! Armani is peeing everywhere all of a sudden. Even by the pad.. but not on it.

Tatiana, this is too bizarre!!! We are living mirrored lives! I swear. You must me my cosmic twin or something.

Even though all this peeing off the reservation makes me crazy, it is reassuring to know that others are going through it as well.

I know and today I didn wiped Armani's butt fast enough after he pooped (he likes to keep clean, so I wipe him after each poop with baby wiped) so he turned around and wiped his butt on my white carpet. AHHHH at six in the morning I was scrubbing the carpet!! Let me just say I was not pleased. I am just surprised he has not peed on me yet, he is pretty protective of me.

We had some of the same issues. Both of mine were virtually 100% trained by 5 months. But after they were neutered at 7 months, Archie decided he would no longer use the pads. If I didn't remind him in time, he would just pee anywhere. Quite maddening when he also would just go near --- but not on --- the pads. It was either outside or anywhere he pleased. Most frustrating was that he would use pads to poop, just not pee.

It took a couple of months to get him back on track. I think he's back now. He hasn't had an accident in the last month or more, and has actually used the pads to pee a couple of times. He still mostly goes outside -- we have a sliding door that is always open during the day so the dogs and cats can go in and out at will.

Sounds like many pups have some backsliding about the same age.

Willie on the other hand has not had a single accident since he was about 4 months old. Same age (they are litter mates) and same house, same training methods (right or wrong) so much can only be attributed to puppy personality I suppose. Or I don't know what --- Archie was much quicker to get basic commands -sit, down etc. It was just the potty training issue with him.

Wish I knew the answer, but I don't. I guess just patience, patience, patience and persistence.
