I am having so much difficulty with this pack leader role. . Bella respects no one in our house but herself. She thinks she is Queen B here...she tells you when she wants to be picked up...put down...when she wants you on the floor to play with her...when she wants you to leave her alone..I have lost all respect. I need help with the pack leader role. How do I do it?? Because her barking excessively and her not listening is do to not understanding I am boss...PLEASE HELP

well there are a few things you can do.. if you are free feeding her... stop... you decide when she eats... only put it down for 20 min at a time.. if she is not interested... put it back up... do not pick her up (yes.. this is hard) because when she is as tall as you... she is equal... she should go in her crate and in another room when you eat... she is not allowed on the couch or chairs.. just the floor... when you both go outside... you go out the door first... she follows...

as for the couch and not holding.. this isn't forever.. just until she gets the idea that you are in control.... this can be very tough to get back (Layla had these issues) but if you stick to your guns it will work. Oh and if she is in your bed at night.. i'd suggest a crate.. in your room.. on the floor so she can still see you.. but i think being in your bed would be a big mistake.. again she thinks she is equal.. i think with yorkies you have to treat them like they are a german shepard or soemthing.. you would not hold a GS or let it on your couch, or free feed it all day or let it in bed... same thing has to be for bella until she gets the hint!

Try watching Cesar the dog whisperer, he has really good ideas. But some of the things we do is we go in and out doors first, we never step over them or move around them, they have to move (mostly applicable to our big dogs). The dogs themselves will work out their hierarchy, but all humans are first, then the dogs. GOOD LUCK!

I agree pretty much with what everyone else has said.. One thing I saw on an episode of "it's me or the dog" the trainer suggests pretending you are eating the dogs food. This sounds ridiculous and my husband dies laughing at me but I get a couple of chips or crackers cause they're really crunchy and then after I fix the dogs food I pretend I'm eating it but instead eat the cracker really noisily. I also walk them every day and I always go in and out before them and I have to say it really does seem to make a difference but both my dogs are pretty easy going so this may or may not help you but either way.. Good Luck!

All the above information is excellent advise. I have been through it all
with my "good boy" The only other suggestion I would add it
when you place his food down make him sit and look at you then release him to eat by saying ok. This gives you full control over the food. Do not give him food while your preparing it. Also when giving snacks always make him sit first. Buddy tried many times to be boss and at the beginning
he was but when I realized what was happening I turned it around fast.
He tried dominating the bed, couch, food, toys and me I tacked one
things at a time and today he knows who's boss

Good luck. These Yorkies are too smart for their britches.

Make sure you go through doorways before her. She has to wait on you. Also an exercized pup is a happy pup. Take her on lots of walks. She will get used to following your lead
