ok, i work at a pet resort, its new and i can bring my yorkie for free which is great, but there's one problem! he wont stop whining, he just keeps on doing it for the entire length of my work day and not only is it embarrassing but (even though i love my dog very much) it gets really annoying after a while. All i want him to do is just relax while i work but he just paces and whines. someone, please help me, its been like this for a while and im at my whits end.

i'm not sure of the exact nature of your work, but is it possible to pick up your yorkie and carry him/her in a doggie sling/ or back-pack?....being near to you may stop the whining....Sometimes, that's what i do when my yorkie goes to work with me....hope that helps.

well, im the receptionist at this place called the heavenly pet resort and i wish i could have him at the front with me but its against policy, but its not like he's in a cage, he had a big room to run around in and another dog to play with. its a nice place. and he can see me from where he's at. its like this at home too, there a gate blocking off the kitchen from the living room and if i go on the other side of it he whines, even though he has the whole house to run around in. its just been like this for such a long time and its stressful cause i just want him to be able to relax, a lot of people say when they babysit him he cries the whole time. i always feel bad about going places because i know he's going to be home stressing out. i just really need help with him.

Since you take him to work with you, do you spend much time away from your boy? He sounds like he's got a bad case of separation anxiety going on, kinda like a reverse case of a mom leaving her baby at day care for the first time. You're that boy's world, and it's possible he feels like he needs to be right with you at all times because he's never had to find out how to deal with being alone much. Add to that that most pet owner's naturally make their dogs feel like they're the alpha because the owner is constantly doing for the dog. Your boy may feel like HE'S responsible for you and it makes him anxious if he's not right there with you. It would be like your child going out the door and you have no choice but to wonder if they're OK, and not in danger. And even tho you're in sight of him, he's still not able to be WITH you, e.i., like an over protective parent. Hope I've made sense here.

I'm glad separation anxiety was mentioned. you may want to do a search, i recall reading some effective strategies on this site to cope with what you are going through. It will may both you and your fur baby much happier.
