Default I don't know what he's doing!

Okay, so I'm going to try to explain what Stanley does as accurately as possible. Sometimes he'll be on my bed, or his, or even on the wood floor. He'll start doing a "digging" action. It's hard to describe...he'll just start rubbing his front paws back and forth and back and forth in a fast motion. It's like he's trying to dig or something. Does anyone elses' dogs do this? I dont' mind that he does it, I'd just really like to know the meaning behind it.

Zoe has 2 beds and he tends to do the same thing in each of the bed where he digs really really fast. Me and Steve find it funny but we just let it be. he's obviously not gonna get anywhere.

hmm.. weird.. Oscar does this too - usually I find it's when he's feeling really super hyper and wants to play and it almost seems as if he is playing a game with himself. One of his favorite games is "catch mumma's hand" when I hide it under a blanket or move it really fast around the floor - and he does this digging action then to get at my hand. If only we could read their minds.....

That's one of Cali's favorite games! She looves it

He's probably doing it when he's tired. Loki does it to "fluff" the blanket, although if he's on OUR bed he doesn't get anywhere, but I try to leave his fleece blankets around so he can "fluff" one if he wants. Usually he will "dig" and then move over 3 feet and lie down. All that work for nothing! It's so cute and funny. I compare it to a tired kid rubbing their eyes.

That is more like what Stan does. He does it mainly before we go to bed...One time he did it on my bed and he peed right after. I thought it was a sign that he had to pee so I started putting him on the floor after he did it...but then he would just plop down to sleep!

Yep the peeing was probably a coincidence. Loki gets frustrated too if he's on our comforter or on his dog bed and he can't move anything, but if I toss a blanket at him and he will wrestle it into a little nest. If we are out somewhere and we get in the car he scratches his carseat right away and lies down and goes to sleep too. So cute.

Eddie does that, but he's usually digging at my pocket to get a treat out of it. Sometimes I forget I've got one in my pocket, but he always knows.

Tiger sure does it most of the time when he is on my bed . . yet I do not see him do it when he is in his crate at night

Remember that that is what these little dogs were bred to do --- burrow and dig!!!!

Sometimes I wish mine would settle down a little sooner than he does. He goes through a 10 or 15 minutes ritual every night in bed - digging his imaginary hole and turning around in circles - and getting everything just perfect -before he finally settles down and goes to sleep.

I finally put another blanket on top of my bedspread (only at night) so his "digging" won't cause so much wear and tear on my bedspread.

So cute!!!!

Baby does the same thing, don't worry! She does this after she goes to the bathroom, when she's "making" her bed to sleep, on my legs to get my attention, and on the couch/bed before she jumps off.

Mya does this on our bed to make a nest to sleep too. From this I started a game of hiding her toy under a pillow or the the blankets. She LOVES this game of burrowing to find the toy. My late s**tzu would dig constantly our of fear to try to escape from noises and such but then he was a rescued dog and paranoid. His favorite spot to dig was in the bath tub, I think he was trying to get down the drain.....LOL

Sissy does this too. It is always when she is on our bed and it appears she is getting her "spot" ready to lay in.
