Default Help! How to get Bows in won't sit still

I have been trying now for months to get a bow in Ladys hair, she will not sit still long enough, shes either moving around or trying to bite me. Does anyone have any advise on how to get her to sit still for me. She tolerates me brushing her and is good with the baths, she just hates the bows and she'd look so pretty if she'd stay still for a minute.

Diamond is the same way...she will fidget like I am performing surgery on her, she's such a baby!!!!

Diamond usually sits on my lap when I am on the computer (often on YT and she usually falls asleep on my lap. That is the BEST time to do it. It sounds mean but when they are half asleep I quickly do it. She will eventually start twitching when I am doing it but I try to do it as quick as I can. That is the only time I can do it.

I tried doing it before when we were playing, and she doesn't sit still long enough, she is a little wiggle worm!

Good luck!

I'm at a loss with this too. I have tried to do it while she is sleeping. I'm able to get the latex band in once and as I'm about to loop it again she starts moving all around. I'll have to wait for my bfs help but he doesn't want me putting bows in Kona's hair, so I'm not sure he'll really help me. lol

This may sound silly, but I make a little game out of it, I have a box with all her bows in it and I say bow time real excitedly and get the bow box down and let he sniff in there and say pick out a bow and then I pick one out and she sits so nice while I put in her bow. She is so use to it all I have to do is say bow and she sits still for me.

The most important thing is that you just keep trying. Right now they are wiggly but soon they will learn that if they just sit still it goes much easier and with less hair pulling.

Now this is what I do, its a little strange I know. I will sit with Reagan in between my legs facing out and cross one over the other in front of her. Kind of half indian style with Reagan in the middle. This allows me to hold her with my legs while both of my hands are free to use. She would just sit there with her head on my leg and wait. Now I don't have to cross my leg over she just stays put, actually if I call her over and kinda pat the floor in between my legs she just comes right over, turns around, sits down, and waits.

If you can't cross your leg over you could even try just sitting the pup in between your legs and just clamping your legs together to hold the pup that way. I've found that if you can use your legs in any way its better because it frees up both your hands. Just keeping trying you'll find a way that works great for you, like I said the important part is just continuing to do it so they get used to it. Good Luck

Smile Start early

As soon as their hair is long enough for a bow, go for it! Sure they are wiggly, but speak in a calming tone, tell them how good they are, and praise and treat when you are done! Wosie sits perfectly still now for her bow because she knows she is going to get a treat after!

Now if someone could tell me how to get the bows out without breaking her hair, I would appreciate it! I hate the idea of cutting the elastic all the time as I can't figure out how to put another elastic in and make it look nice.

I give her something to chew on while in my lap which keeps her occupied and not aware of what is going on her head.

I just began trying to put bows in Lola's hair, but when I was at the groomers, they had this little tool-it is similar to what hair stylists use to pull hair through a cap for highlights...she used it to put the bow in, is this an easier way to put bows in? also do you use bows or clips? I would like to use clips but I dont want them to fall out so she can chew on them...what do ya'll use?

if your baby is a "beginner" in wearing a bow, I highly suggest to get an extra pair of hands. Really, it might still be hard at first but it sure helps to have an extra pair to hold their head still.

Plain baby Rubber bands hold better so use that . . .and once they are in, try to leave them on for a day, no more as it starts to matt. For beginners especially, it is important that the bows are barettes as once you have the bands on, clipping it so much easier . . . I initially started with bands on the bows I sell but have since switched to barettes . . it is just plain easier
