Default Potty Training (belly Bands)

If I Would Buy Belly Bands To Help With Potty Training Will That Confuse Gimpy

He Will Be 6 Months Old On July 2 06 He Is Doing Ok On Potty Training No Pooping In House For A While Now

But I Don't Know If He Is Leaking When Excited Or What But I Have Little Spots On My Carpet About Size Of A Quarter I Want To Get My Carpet Professial Cleaned But I Don't Want To Waste My Money.

If I Would Put Belly Bands On Him And Take Them Off, When Taken Him Out (still Take Him Out Very 30 Min) Will This Confuse Him On Training? Also I Am Scared He Will Think Thats The Way It Works And Never Be Able To Be With Out Belly Bands.

Also How Do They Work? How Many Will I Need To Buy If I Deside
To Do This?

**** I'm not critizing at all - but just have to ask this -- why do you capitalize the first letters of all the words you type. I tried to do this - and I think it makes typing twice or maybe even three times the work - plus a little more difficult to read... Very interesting......

Anyway -- the purpose of bellybands is to keep your little guy from peeing on your carpet, etc., and doing any damage.

Bellybands have nothing to do with potty training - nor do they help in any way.

I always used a bellyband with my little guy when he was running around the house - especially when he was little (because believe me a little pup can pee almost every 15 minutes)..

Now he's older and pees less frequently, and I get him outside often -- so he doesn't need to wear bellybands as much. I still do put one on him for the night - but it is almost always dry in the morning....

Good luck - Carol Jean

Most dogs will hate to be wet and will stop peeing in their bellybands, this is not the case for all of them though. I would say your dog is marking, when they are that old and they pee only a size of a quarter then they are marking. Training your dog not to mark is not the same as housetraining them. Your best bet is to put the belly band on him inside to protect your furniture and carpet because it will only get worse. Neutering may help, but not always.

When I first put a bellyband on Scampers he would pee in it all the time like that is what he was suppose to. As time went on, he hated peeing on himself, so I would put it on him in the house and take it off to go outside. Once outside he would pee and he would no longer pee in his belly band, that does not mean that he won't pee inside without the bellyband, because he will mark without the band on, but when it is on, he stays dry. Bellybands are really the best you can do for a male dog.

In my opinion, it does not confuse, maybe a little at first, but after a while they get the hang of it. So you may notice that your boy will pee alot outside and maybe only a little bit with the belly band on, because he was marking. After time, he may not pee with the belly band on at all, but I would still leave it on when inside.

You will need atleast two bands, one to switch when one is dirty. You can order them at www.barkindogclothes.com. They have material built in that absorbs the moisture so that if your dog does pee it will not be wet and get on everything, these are the type I really like. With other belly bands you have to have a small disposable pad put on the band to absorb the moisture and I think these are a pain and not very comfortable for the dogs.

Question Messing in her kennel???

Can anyone help me.... I feel terrible! I made the mistake of giving Pepper water immediately before she was kenneled. She had an accident, she was soaked and didn't seem to care. It has now progressively gotten worse, she doesn't whine to come out anymore - since that night. HELP! (oh by the way, it's been about a week now. and when i wake up in the night i take her out, but it doesnt seem to matter)
