Question litter box training?

Has anyone trained their dog to use a doggie litter box? I see that they now have litter for dogs and special boxes. Sometimes I think it would be so much easier, but I suppose their are drawbacks, too. I'm guess I'm getting a little tired of the whole housebreaking thing.

I am using a crate and Tinka really does not seem to mind it at all. She never cries when she goes in it. She usually takes a much needed nap. She goes out every time she comes out of the crate and again a bit after eating. But... she certainly does think hardwood floors are made just for her to poop on. Luckily, it's easy to clean up and doesn't destroy stuff like pee on carpet. (which hopefully she is over )

So, just wondering if anyone has tried the litter box thing. She sure is interested in my cats boxes!!!!!! Oh! Any tricks to keep her out of the cat boxes?

thanks,
omega

We haven't used one, but my sister trained her min pin to use a litter box. It works well for them. One potential problem - when our dogs are around their cousin's litter box, they eat the litter and carry it around the house. We personally use piddle pads. I saw someone else on here who said they used a little box with a piddle pad in it instead of litter. That sounded like a neat idea. Good luck!

My dog is litterbox trained. It was pretty easy for me because all I did was crate train her and made the litter box where she went. I don't use the dog litter anymore though I use horse bedding stuff. It's cheaper and last longer and you get a much bigger bag of it.
