Embarassed I have a confession...

Bubba will only poop inside! Okay I said it. Cricket and Bubba are 14 months old and have done really well with going potty outside. Cricket is housetrained!! Bubba pees outside, but will not poop. He sneaks and poops downstairs everyday! I will try to encourage him, heck I've done everything I can think of. I've even put down potty pads and he won't go on those. He loves pooping on our carpet. He poops about 3 times a day too! Cricket does once a day.
Please give me some advice. We live in a house that has 4 stories. I've blocked off the steps and he will go in a corner and poop in the same room as me even and he knows he's not supposed to. I say "No! You go potty outside!" and he'll cower and run downstairs to go out. I've done the treats and just about everything. Thanks!!

LMAO, I know it is NOT funny, but the way you said " ok, I said it." made my laugh,, Kinda like in the- Will you dog come to you? I could have said it that way " No, I said it" ha It is so frustrating I know, they are something else.
Hopefully you'll get some good advise.

I told my hubby that we will need to get a good dog behavoirist and he says, " If I were him I wouldn't want to go out in the cold and go either". He does his pee pee outside and will not poop even if we are out there for 30 minutes and I'll look for him and he's snuck downstairs and pooped right after we come in!!

Don’t feel bad. Ginger poops in my closet almost every day. She pees outside, but # 2 is a little harder to…anticipate. It hasn’t set a pattern; it’s just at random times all throughout the day. So if you could figure out Bubba’s going pattern then maybe you could make sure he’s outside at that time? But it sounds like he prefers carpet…maybe you could put a piece of carpet outside and see if that could get him in the routine of going out there?

Confused

Bailey hasn't peed inside in ages, but about once a week in the night, he will get out of bed ( if I dont wake up) he'll go in the bathroom and poop on the shower mat. I wake up in the morning go in and say " WHO POOPED?" and he goes under the blankets.

Really you shouldn't feel bad. Bailey is outside trained to go pee but still poos on my white carpet everyday. I have tried everything and have just decided he is going to do what he is going to do, and at least it's not messy, no bigger than rabbit turds. *SHRUGS* maybe he's just as stubborn as my Bailey Boy is.

Confused Thanks you guys!!

I have tried so many things, except the carpet outside! I will let you know how it goes. He likes to pee on everything outside. He was neutered at 6 months and barely lifts his leg. I'm wondering if he doen't want to ruin his backyard. He loves it out there. He's so nosy and loves to bark at the neighbors, the neighbors dogs, cars, even birds LOL. He acts like one tuff boy out there. ???

Waistfull,

This will sound gross, but have you taken some of his poop outside? Take some outside and leave it there. When you take him outside, lead him to the poop. Dogs often stimulate themselves to defecate by smelling excrement.

PS. I would also try to gate him away from the carpet except for when you know for a fact that he won't need to go. Every time he practices going with the feel of carpet under his feet, the more he thinks he HAS to have carpet under his feet to go.

We're having a hard time with Punkin and #2 too. SHe recently has started pooping on the carpet. We've discovered it's mostly after she eats so we take her outside immeditely after meals. I think she doesn't want to go outside (and I don't want to either!) It's been very cold - 25 c with the windchill. Yesterday. Today was better with no accidents yet (at least that I have found).

Default litter box

MY 12 week old puppy goes outside and won't move, she just stands there and shivers. It is not that cold out but I don't really want to go out either so we are litter training. You can buy dog litter boxes at pet stores and we use wood pellets from the hardware store, much cheaper than pet store dog litter. Anyway it is going ok..it's only been a few days. So we will see!!!
