Animal Smiley 036 Crating new pup while the other has full reign of the house

Hi everyone! I have a question maybe one of you can help me. Diesel is already trained and does not stay in a crate anymore while we are at work. Daisy does. Is it better to keep them in separate rooms so he can't go up to her cage and make her want to get out, or is it better to keep her somewhere we he can go up to her? Thanks so much for your advice!

I confine my pup to the kitchen with everything he needs when I'm gone - and leave my other dog loose to roam around the rest of the house. I have never seen any problem, but then I'm not here to see what goes on.
Anyway - this is the way it has to be for now. We have no other choice.

I do know my dog that is loose is usually at the other end of the house sleeping when I leave. And, I can tell often that they have both been sleeping when I get home. They are both yawning and stretching when I first walk in.

I think the best way to tell is by the way they act when you're there. If one is in the crate and the other is loose - is it a problem then? If not, it will probably not be a problem when you're gone either. And --- they'll probably get used to and adjust to whatever way things have to be. Don't worry. The little one won't be in the crate forever -- hopefully!!!!

I read somewhere online it is good if they can see each other that it will decrease seperation anxiety. But then again, who knows...we aren't there to see!

I crate Lottie and Alfie has a free run of downstairs but he is always in the room with lottie next to the crate when I come in so it seems to keep her calm as she can see him.
