Daisy will not use the pee pads at all..will pee and poop next to them, far from them, where ever! I dont know how to get her to use them? She spends most of her day in my room..(by her choice) and uses it to go whenever. I do take her out..but she is a lil priss (lol) with the cold and just stands there and shakes...once in a whle on a walk she'll go..but thats it!

HOW can I get her to go to the pads? I have a few scattered around my room..but no luck

DH is getting sick of the smell! Im using pet fresh carpet fresh daily after soaking up the wet spots..but I know I need to get something else to use as well. CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE AND HAVE NOOOOOOOOOO CARPET!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps you should try crate training her? Or using an X-pen to confine her in a small area & you can line that with her peepee pads?

well we tried the crate thing in the beginning, but she FREAKED out! daisy is 6 years old and came from a kennel, so never trained or crated before.

Poor baby. Perhaps then then confining her in an area using an X-pen would be a better choice for you. Use lots of praise and yummy treats for when she does go potty in the right place. My yorkie Sango isn't crate trained (I didn't get her a crate until recently) but my method was just to keep her confined in an area (I used my kitchen b/c the floors are easier to clean than on carpet) and when I saw her do the sniffing in circles dance meaning she's looking for a place to potty & picked her up & placed her on the weewee pad. Then praised her and gave her a trat for going in the right place. I've been doing this for about 4 months now (she is 8months) and she has almost no accidents. Except for when she misses the weewee pad. She has bad aim.

I had the same problem...I had to let Caesar pee somewheres...wip it up with the peepad..then leave the peepad somewheres that he would be comfortable using it. She will come to her own smell. Try it..it really works. She might be scared to pee on the peepads if they are clean. She might think it is a "NO" zone.

If this doesn't work.....Rip out the carpet!!! LOL Give her some time. She will get use to them

when we got Chloe she was 3 months old she was completly peepad trained and she has had only 1 accident and it was my fault (I forgot to put a potty pad down after I picked up the first one) well we got daisy 2 weeks ago and she was not trained at all (she is 11 weeks old) I spent the first week sitting her on her pad every 30 minutes and saying go potty, go potty. When she would go I would give her a treat and praise her. Well now she is going on her pad by herself 75% of the time now. I am so excited and I dont think that it will be too much longer before she is 100% trained. Just keep it up and she will eventually get the idea, these guys are really smart.

did you try to put her in a bathroom or closed in area with a baby gate? Leave her scent and a sample on the pee pad. Or maybe try crate training. Hope this helps!

I have only trained little puppies, so I'm no help. I do have a suggestion, though. Contact anyone who does yorkie rescue. For example, try PMing livingdustmops on this forum. She does rescue. If she can't help you, then no one can. You will have to clean the carpet messes with a special solution that cleans down to and including the pad to eliminate any odor to keep her from going back to the same spots. There are a number of good pet stain removers on the market.

I agree with the suggestions to scent the pee pad - wipe up a little pee with it and pick up a piece of poop with it. It sounds gross, I know, but it shows her what they're for. She hadn't been exposed to pee pads prior to coming to you, had she?

I'm no expert but I've read that it's easiest to housebreak a dog using only one method. In other words, you might have success faster if you pick one method - pee pads or outside - and only try to train it.

Adult dogs who've never been housebroken definitely take longer. Hang in there! You are doing great!

Thank you! I PM'd livingdustmops and she said she'll get back with me later..which is great!

I used my carpet shampooer in my room..but i still detect the urine smell.
The worst part is, we just put our house back on the market!!!! So I must get it smelling good. GOIng to try and get one of those candles that petsmart sells that neutralizes odors..ever tried one?

I am also going to keep her in my bathroom when I leave the house from now on. Its rather large so I can set up a bed and all in there for her, and I can put pee pads down all over the floor, and slowly take one at a time away. Maybe that will help!

She just peed and pood outside a short time ago and I praised her tons..but she isn't into taking treats yet, so that isn't working

Thanks for all the input and support. Iknow we'll get there...but it is frustrating!

You're going to have to use a Pet Stain & Odor remover (like a shampoo) and it will have to soak down into the pad to remove the stain and the odor. If you don't do this, she will simply return to the same spot. That's what her nose is telling her to do.

I have read (I don't really know) that steam cleaning only sets the stains unlike the other shampooers. Much luck. Let me know how it works out.

Yeah..I just did a search on odor/stain remover products on here. I think Im going to go get some of that Simple Solution and a blacklight so taht I can see the stains.

Now..do the cleaners take some color out of the carpet? because we have dark green carpets!!

I've used Simple Solutions and never had any color damage. You should test it if you have a bright or dark color though. It comes in nice BIG bottles, too.

Everybody goes into shock when they use black lights, so be prepared!

At some point in the past someone with a doggie might have left some little puddles there, so don't blame it all on Daisy, OK?
