| So this is my first official thread... I have a 5-month old yorkie and a 2-month old border collie. We just purchased a doggie door, which the border collie uses with no issues. I need some advice on getting my yorkie to use it. It seems that she may be scared of the magnet that attached to the flap. I have tried treats and helping her nudge it...but still no help.

| Buster was about that age when we got a doggie door. We took the flap off and put a dish towel on it, the dish towel was raised about half way up. We left that on for about a week, then we lowered the dish towel all the way. We left the dish towel on for another week, lowered all the way. Then we switched that out for a sheet protector, the things you put a piece of paper in. After a week of that, we put the flap back on. It about three or four weeks to get him to use it. I got that information from a web site. I would think with another dog he would use it. When we brought Maggie home, she followed Buster right out and learned from him.

| YT Addict | We taped up the flap & coaxed her through each direction. She caught on quite fast. Each day we lowered the flap a little. It was probably 5 days max & she was using it like a pro. She really enjoys the independance of being able to come & go at will. I think it helped to finish off her potty training too.
