Default Fighting puppies. Help!

Hi

We have two 8 week puppies from the same litter (boy and girl) and they keep on fighting. It is mainly over toys, if one of them has a toy the other one wants it even if they are already playing with one. We pull the dogs away and try and distract them with somthing else. Both of the dogs do it so its not one who start the fights. We have had them for just over a week now and now there setteld in they have started fighting. Is there any way to stop it? And is there anyone who have had puppies from the same litter who have stopped fighting as they get older. I have had a search and i know having dogs from the same litter is not advised. But please can you help.

Thanks for any advice or storys from people who have had the same problem.

Are you SURE it's fighting though?

It might help us to see a video if you wanna take one. Puppies play rough and make a lot of evil noises when in reality, they're just play fighting. If you don't hear any yelping, then they're not hurting each other. You would think our dogs were killing each other by the noises they make, but they're just playing. You can tell when it gets serious and a fight is about to break out... one dog will usually stop wagging tail, mouth closed, and STARE at the other dog and then a fight will break. Like I said, if they're just growling, etc, they're probably totally fine.

I can't imagine two 8 week old pups legitimately fighting.

I never had puppies the same age but I have 3 and they play/fight all the time. Sometimes it sounds like they are killing each other. Once in awhile 2 of them will pick on the other one and it sounds more vicious so I step in. I would think they are just playing and establishing dominance.

wow , 2 pups the same age , that does seem like quite a handful. What are they doing excatly that is a cause for concern?
I have a 17month old Yorkie, and a 14week old Shih Tzu puppy. My 2 play fight all the time, and it does sometimes get out of hand, however, it is always the puppy who starts it Suzi, my yorkie is of corse bigger then Miley, mIley being only 14 weeks old, and such . She is a little fireball, but Suzi loves it too, chases her all over the place, however, when I see that Miley is actually scared, tail down, and panting, I step in !
What you can do is separate the two pups. Place one in a different room , door closed. Give the pup water and food, a pee pad. Time away from each other is a good thing.
If you have a xpen use it, better yet, 2 expens would be great for now . how old are the puppies? When they do grow up , you will have to get them fixed right away. Esp. that they are from the same litter. INbreeding is a very bad thing.
I do not think you will need to have to rehome on of them , if you start to just separate them when they start to become too rough with each other, however remember anther thing, this is how a puppy learns propper social skills from each other, how NOT to bite too hard, and play so rough , is from each other, and how to behave around other dogs is from each other.
I have the excat same problems with my 2 , taking each others toys away, however they work it out on their own. Don't try and invervene all the time. Allow them to work it out . Just be certain you have more then a few toys to go around for the 2 little ones.
They are really funny to watch as they work out their differences. Just like children, they will learn ! Just yesterday I gave my 2 a bully stick , one each. Suzi kept wanting Miley's bully Stick, each time, but Miley would go and get the other bully stick Suzi left behind, (shurgs) I did not get it, Suzi is very possesive of the bully sticks , but miley is just learning about them. Poor Miley , she did get a chance to chew on one, but, Suzi kept grabing em, as much as she could away from Miely. Miely figured it out though, luckily she is not into them as much as Suzi is just yet.
I think if you rehomed one of your pups you would feel real badly at this time .Because you can always put one of them in a different room for a little while until the excitement calms down.

They do yelp and really snarl at each other and when separated they continue to snarl. they may calm down for a bit but they soon start again. My mom doesnt want to keep them separated as it defeats the whole reason we had two and that was to keep each other company. she is thinking rehoming is the best solution - sooner rather than later?
do they fight so much becouse they are from the same litter?
