Does anyone have any ideas for me .Andy goes wacky when we go for walks .I pray nobody will walk past us or meet us especially with another dog .He barks ,snarls and growls it is very embarressing .I have tries steering him with little tugs to the left saying a firm NO !.....I have kept walking head high (cesar Millan) technique lol. I tried picking him up .It only made him worse to the point he bit me .Ok so now what do I do .HELP !!!!!

There seems to be a lot of this type of thing going on lately
What you can do when you take him out
whenever he barks or gets wild

Stop .... say No Bark and trun around and walk in the opposite direction until he calms down

This takes him away from the stimulus
and the No Bark and the abrupt turnaround prods him out of his train of thought

Are you using collar or harness? Where are you walking him? Is he pulling? Some more details would be helpful.

Thanks I will try the turn around walk other way and say "No Bark"

He is on a harness ,He does not pull unless he sees a squirrel running then he wants to as well ....
I do take treats and I reward/Praise good behaviour .

layla goes crazy when she sees other dogs too, but I just got the gentle leader head collar and I saw instant improvement on our walks. She still tries to run towards the other dog but she's a lot more controlled, she's not doing the "treadmill walk" anymore as she was with the harness. plus she is actually walking beside me now instead of trying to run ahead. I think correcting the problem altogether would be best (still trying to figure out how to do that), but you might see some improvement with the collar.

Thankyou all for your ideas ,The go in a circle ,then go the other way seems to be helping .At least there is an improvement and I'm not having to listen to phsyco puppy as much .Also I rewarding good behaviour on the walks .Yea !!!

My boys are the same way and I've tried everything I can think of... distracting them with treats, shaking a can of pennies to startle them, gentle nudging them with my foot like Ceasar demonstrates, hired a trainer and nothing seems to work. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I don't even want to take them for a walk. This weekend I bought the Gentle Leader hoping that it will help. We've only used them once, yesterday and I can't really tell so I need to do more "experimenting" with it. I'm just petrified that they will wriggle out of them and run into traffic or meet the wrong dog and get into fight. I just put a post up to see if anyone uses gentle leader and whether or not their dogs have gotten out of it...

my dog used to pull constantly but I've been trying Cesar's techniques that I see on Dog Whisperer.. basically I don't start the walk until my dog is calm and laying by my feet. I never let him walk through the door first (in or out) and try to keep my own attitude positive. whenever I'm frustrated or angry, my dog never behaves. it's really hard to stay calm when your dog is acting up but patience is the key!! Oh, also, when rewarding, never let your dog take the treat out of your hand. you must lower it to their face and let them smell it and follow it a bit before giving it to them. try to keep your dog sitting through this. always use gentle touches to control your dog and don't reward unless he's calm too!

Don't get discouraged. I have been working with Buddy on walking for
5yrs. He's gotten better, so much better but he still wants a piece of
every large dog he sees. At least now he looks my way while growling
so I know he knows he's about to get poked in the side before he
get's into a real spin.
Also I never allow him to go out a door before me.
He sit's on the top step as we step out the front door. Then he
looks up at me a leaps down two steps pulling me with him

I can not stop this, no matter what I do. He use to dive right
off the step when the door opened now at least he sit's first

Hang in there it just has to get better.
