Confused Twinkle has forgotten she's housebroken!

Twinkle has been peeing outside for a while now - she paws at me or DH's lap and runs to the front door to be let out, she's also started to do this when she needs to poop too. On the odd ocassion she doesn't do this she goes on her peepad which is fine. Anyway, over the last few days she's started goin wherever she likes - even pooping on my sofa this morning! She didn't even do this when she was a 12 week old puppy! I said 'NO' and took her outside to remind her where she should be going. Do you think I need to start housebreaking again from scratch? I'm not sure why she's started doing it. She's six months old and not yet spayed (have an appointment for Jan 6th) Any advice and suggestions gratefully received! xxx xxxx

Uh oh. I'm no help, Kayla is so bad with toilet training and I've had to start from scratch many times but I think this time she might actually have it cracked... we've been accident free for nearly a week now.

Just keep trying. Good luck.

Unfortunately, puppies regress in their training. As they get older, they learn more about the world and like to test the waters a little. I would start back at square one... she'll learn eventually.

Thanks for your replies Your answers were as I feared (and half-expected!) and so I've started from scratch. I've been taking her outside every hour for the last couple of days and I'm praising like nuts and giving treats when she goes! So far we've had one accident inside which was my fault for not paying 100% attention saying 'NO' and taking her outside was pointless because I didnt catch her in the act. I'm hopeful she'll get the hang of it again quickly! xxx xxx

I am going through this right now with my 6 month Snickers. He goes potty in his crate, in his room when we are at work, and also now in the house while we are home! It's bitter cold right now and I know he does not want to go outside, but am so confused why he can't hold it while we are at work anymore. He in his room or crate for 2.5 hours, then my husband comes home, then another 3 hours. The whole holding it for their age in months is not true...Snick is 6 months and can hold it max 3 hours. I cried this morning when he pooped in our bedroom right after coming in from going pee. I am frustrated and discouraged! AGH!!!!!

-Sad Vivian

ps. I still am not sure where to keep him during the day, it's either cleaning a nasty crate and poopy pup, or my bathroom floor. I want to keep him in a room, so he can move around, but he seems to hate it. Waa!

Hi Vivian let me assure there is light at the end of the tunnel!! Since I posted this thread Twinkle has made huge improvements......I started from scratch, taking her outside every hour on the hour, then increased it to 2 then 4 hourly. She got the idea again REALLY quickly (especially with the help of lots of treats!) and she's been accident free for weeks now She sits by the door when she wants to go out and held it the other day from 6.30am until 3pm because she hates going out in the rain! Good luck!! xxx xxx
